When does your church use incense POLL

Our parish uses incense for High Masses, Funeral Masses, and Exposition/Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, and Holy week ceremonies.

I love when they use a lot of incense. There are a few altar boys in particular (my brother included) who really smokes it up.
Lenten incense usually smells pretty bad.
 
My current parish uses it during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. If I didn’t attend I wouldn’t noticed that they used it.

At my parish, we have started having one of the Sunday masses as a “high mass”, with cross, candles, and incense. It’s been tough to always have the number of servers needed, but it’s been working out. I’m usually thurifer.
 
Wow. I had no idea my parish was so different from what’s common. We use LOTS of incense. We also have adoration practically everyday of the week including Sunday. Monday-Friday we have at least 5 hours of adoration a day unless there are funeral/memorial masses. So, there is basically no time you can enter our church without smelling incense.

I’ve only ever gone to one other parish, and they used lots of incense as well.
 
He also makes sure to get all the little kids when they come up for the children’s offering. It’s pretty funny. 😅 He loves that aspergillum. If you come near the altar you’re gonna get wet. But I’m sure we need all we can get! 💧💧
 
It seems that my parish only uses it during Benediction using the Blessed Sacrament.

I’ve never seen it used at my parish during a Mass.
 
Yes, I didn’t realize that some parishes were using it all the time. I’ve never been to a Catholic funeral before, though, so I don’t know if my parish uses it then.

On the Feast of the Epiphany and at every almost every funeral (on extremely rare occasions, the family requests it be omitted). Aside from that it is at the discretion of the celebrating priest - we have four attached to the parish and visiting priests on occasion.

I wish my parish used it more! We have too many people that complain by ‘faux coughing’ loudly. There is one exceptionally disabled woman that comes to mass and I do know she is sensitive. The problem is that she sits up front - as it is easier to place her wheel chair. Out of sensitivity to her, Father uses incense sparingly. Our church building doesn’t ‘breathe’ as the construction was in 1980.

Every liturgical service, regardless of day of week. This includes presanctified liturgies on W & F during Great Lent, and both the Twelve Gospel service and the burial service on Good Friday, free-standing Akathists, and so forth.

I guess we have meetings and confession without incense, but that’s pretty much it . . .

At my previous parish, every Sunday, but not at all the Masses. There were some incense-free Masses for those with allergies.
My current parish- Christmas, Easter, Holy Thursday, Adoration…

I`m pretty sensitive to scents (perfumes etc) but incense hasn’t caused any allergies for me. I really love the incense… the smell is so familiar to me now, it smells like home and brings me comfort.
 
I typically associate scents with certain times/places. Every once in a while, the smell of the incense takes me right back to either my mom’s funeral or my grandfather’s. And his was almost 40 years ago.

It doesn’t happen all the time. Just when it’s particularly strong.

True. Last Ascension Thursday Sunday, I was the boat bearer. I mixed fine grains with small chunks in the incense boat before Mass. Sure enough, after the entrance procession, the altar was covered with smoke from the incense. Hahahaha
