Does that mean that the other gods exist? I’m pretty sure the answer is no because God is one. Anyway it begs the question, what are the other gods of other faiths? Are they demons?

Have you read the OT? The Hebrew People at different times through OT history would worship false idols and gods.
I.E “Golden Calf,” “Baal,” “Asherah/Astarte,” and “Molech” just to name a few.
GOD is also reminding us to put HIM first.

Those ‘gods’ are not real but that did not stop others from worshipping them…

By those false gods is to be meant any thing man might worship or hold above God. Objects or fictional entities held up as sacred, material goods, money, etc. Deities of other religions would fall under that umbrella. That is not to say they exist in reality (as “gods”), they are merely things that someone might worship before the One True God which is forbidden by the commandment.

You seem to know the answer, as far as God being the only One. I have seen some ridiculous pictures of images from a chicken, calf, goat-------woman with ten arms etc, etc. Unfortunately there are those who actually worship-the devil, and for all of them we can only pray that they find their way back to the Truth. Keep yourself close to the Way,the Truth and the Life, who is Jesus. God Bless you.🦋🦋

We are not “make” gods out of things either. Like being workaholics to the neglect of our families, worshipping money and becoming greedy, staying online and neglecting children, etc. etc.
God is foremost.

The other gods can be one of three things:
  1. Purely fictional/figments of the imagination/the sum of mythologies - this is most likely the case with a lot of gods like Zeus and Thor.
  2. Demons - this is the case with certain ancient near East deities like Moloch and Baal.
  3. The One True God, but having false attributes/misconceptions of him mixed in with true ideas of him - this is the case with the Zoroastrian God Ahura Mazda. It’s also the case with certain Hindu conceptions of God, and it’s also the case with the Islamic conception of Allah. Zoroastrians and Muslims worship the One God, but they believe in human misconceptions about the One God because the light of Divine Revelation either has not shone on them or they reject it. This is also the case as illustrated in the Biblical Book of Acts, when St. Paul encounters certain men when have built a shrine to “the unknown god”.

I wouldn’t call those things gods but rather false idols.

There is a distinction between false idols and false gods, though there is overlap as well, dependent upon context.

I can’t agree with all of that. I have a teenager that wants to be left alone for certain personal growth reasons and the world is running like garbage. We have the tools online to simplify (some) stupidity like our elders had before us. I believe it is a service to our children if a parent takes the time to solve certain online issues because it can be motivated by providing them with a better world to live in.

And, it is a gift to her friends and our future family members which will one day arise. We have a very Viking way, to go far away and attack evils which can harm our future family. It is a difficult, yet noble sacrifice and we cannot have the strength to do as we do without God empowering us to be strong leaders.

Sorry, what? Your response doesn’t seem to follow the comment to which it is referring.
