A few months back, I asked for prayers for an intention, which I knew would require a miracle - or at least slow development before the worst. Today, it seems things are getting worse, and tonight - I’m out of my mind. I’m not angry with God at all. But I don’t how to handle a situation which will (figuratively) cripple me the rest of my life. Please - some solid, not ethereal answers - how do you handle it - when God says “no”? Out of my mind tonight.

I find that I cry a lot. I ask for strength to get through whatever it is. (In my case, a lost pregnancy) I try to focus on His will and not my own. It’s certainly not easy, but the peace does come…eventually.

Don’t know if this will help, but I’m undergoing some really nasty persecution from several people, and in the car while I was demanding “why??”, I started praying, “yes, God, help me accept this so that souls may be won”. It was tough–even this second, it is–but it’s given me some peace.

It’s funny because I prayed and prayed for someone very close to me who has Congestive Heart Failure, I took him to a healing Mass, even went to the vatican and knelt before John Paul’s grave AND St. Peter’s, I rubbed St. Raphael’s oil on his chest etc…I tried EVERYTHING so when this man had an Eccocardiagram, his condition would improve.
I was so dissappointed in God that his condition is not getting any better, BUT IT ISN’T GETTING ANY WORSE either, so that’s what I am concentrating on. After I told him I’m sorry, that I was dissappointed in God from not having a miracle, he looked at me and said “don’t blame God, it is meant for me to be this way”. How brave was that?
Then I thought how truly I’ve been blessed with other things in the past and I’m ok with it now. There’s always next year’s Ecco.😦

I don’t know why - I don’t know. I just can’t be angry with God.
Okay, so I’m going to yell at you in the most loving way:

What a crock of ****! If you can’t get angry with God, then who can you get angry with? When you get angry with people, you take the chance they might leave you, but God never will! What kind of a relationship do you have with God that you can’t get angry with him! Get f$%&ing real!

You won’t be able to handle s**t if you don’t get angry with God!

Is your faith that little that you are afraid to get angry??? You’re dealt a ****** blow and you can’t get angry with God?? C’mon, get real man!

Blessed are the merciful - (and the ones who don’t need *s and symbols to cover up for explicatives) - for they shall obtain mercy. (In other words, YOU I’d be pissed at.) Show a little respect, please.

Doing well, generally. Glad to see you around these parts. 🙂
Yeah well, I did a search and was brought back to this site. When I saw all the threads with these pious titles, I thought “There is just far too much piety here. I need to correct that.”

and it’s true, there is far too much piety here. Our relationship with Christ has to be based in reality.

Excellent! Get pissed at me! This is wonderful! You’re alive! And isn’t this a beautiful thing! And just as you’ve shown no fear and got ticked off at me, don’t show any fear about getting ticked off at God!

A wise parish priest taught me a simple prayer that has helped me immensely during bleak times when it seems that God is saying No to a desperately desired request. “Jesus I trust in you.” These five words help me hang on just a little longer. Repeat it throughout the day when doubt, worry or pain threaten to overwhelm you. May God bless you and give you strength to persevere; He loves you entirely and without reservation.

Wow … Thank you for this suggestion. I have a feeling you’re going to help many people in addition to Conservative.

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. Since I don’t know the specifics of your crisis, I’ll try and speak in generalities.

I have found that the best course of action (when the hoped-for OBVIOUS miracle doesn’t pan out) is to gather information. Most folks are gripped with fear, anxiety and depression when they feel out of control or uncertain about the future. Some things, of course, we can’t know but other things like physical conditions, mental issues, financial problems, family problems, addictions, etc., can all be mitigated in intensity when we have information at our fingertips.

I recently got laid off. I’ve spent the last three weeks putting together a business plan and preparing to present it for a grant. Through research and info gathering, I was able to stave off the panic of having no income (except for unemployment). And of course, I continue to pray.

Mom is about to be diagnosed with Alzheimers. We knew she had it even while she denied, denied, denied. In the last few months, my sisters and I have compiled folders of info so that we can be prepared for any outcome. And of course, I continue to pray.

My sister was just diagnosed with leukemia. For the last three weeks I’ve been gathering information for her to take to the doctors and insurance companies. While she is still understandably distraught, she is much less anxious about the future because she is armed with information. And of course, we all continue to pray for her.

Fear, anxiety, panic, and depression often result from a feeling of helplessness. If you can gain information and insight into whatever your particular crisis is, you may feel God’s presence at work more palpably in your life. And of course, always continue to pray for His guidance.

Reply "I love You, God and trust in You and thank You for all that You do and are.

Remember that God knows all and is all powerful. Every bad thing God can put to a better good.

Why is there so much suffering. Simply because God loves us so much that He gives us free will so that we too can love, but as we have free will, individuals can choose not to love but to bring evil into the world. This evil can be direct with one person directly hurting anothers, or indirect such as pesticides getting into the water supply and hurting people down stream.

Pray:
:gopray2: Dear God, grant me the wisdom to surrender to and accept Your Divine Will. Transform all the bad things that happen to me and those around me into opportunties for the greater good and help me to see eventually these goods. Give me the strength to persevere in my suffering and to bear it in You and with You, as You beared the cross. Help me to grow in love from everything that happens in my life. Your Loving Child.:gopray2:

Just focus on the things you’ve been blessed with. That’s what I do. 🙂

Why should one be mad at God ever? Sure we are humans with emotions, but that doesn’t mean we need to cave into them.

God has provided for eternity, remember that in this life and we shall never need to worry.

Matthew 6:25-34

Those verses always help me.
