Yesterday, I was listening to EWTN radio around 7-8 central time. The host of the show (I’m not sure what show) referred to a saint that said something like, ask yourself, when I meet Jesus in the afterlife, will I be happy that I did this or will I regret it?

I’m thinking it was St. Theresa of Avila or St. Terese of Liseux. Does anyone know who said this, and what a more precise quote would be?

Seeing Jesus face to face will be so awesome that I’m sure I won’t be able to think of anything. I’ll finally experience the happiness that isn’t possible in this vale of tears. I can’t wait to meet him and speak with him and thank him for all he’s done for me. I can’t wait to sit with Our Lord and drink the fruit of the vine that he mentioned at the Last Supper. Jesus is my best friend and it’ll be great to talk with him and hear his voice and to shake his holy and venerable hand.

I can’t wait to meet Our Blessed Mother. I’ve got a lot to thank her for and I want to tell her how much I love her. There’s so many Saints I want to meet and embrace. Imagine what it’ll be like to meet the Angels! When I think about all this I understand why the Saints wished for death.

However, I’m still making my pilgrimage. I just hope that I have the grace of perseverance. Sin is lurking at the door and its desire is for us. I have to stay in the state of grace and follow the will of God. We’ve got to trust in Jesus and accept his graces. I just hope I don’t have to spend ages in purgatory. I’d rather suffer my purgatory on Earth and go straight to heaven.

I’m not asking to do Purgatory on Earth; I’m terrified of the enormous physical or mental suffering that Reputedly seems to require.

At the same time though, I long to hide BODILY in HIS arms…
