Ok. it is Lent, I have been reading the Liturgy of Hours:bible1:since February, and enjoying the (name removed by moderator)ut from everyone on this topic. Christ came to the sinners, to free us from sin. He knows we are mere humans, and are prone to sin. As a disciplinary Father He will correct us, instruct our hearts, by way of the Holy Spirit, and if we choose sin, He will allow us to live in it long enough, so not to harm us, and will take us back when we repent, and confess our sins to the Priest, of His Church, as he instructed. “Whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven, and whose sins you retain, they are retained.” It is our choice.
Wednesday I went the the Parish Penance Service, after several weeks of self examination, and went to confession. The Priest was very friendly, he listened as long as I wanted to talk. And he made some very helpful suggestions. Then he absolved me of my sins,:crossrc: in Christ. If we let Pride, fear, :frighten: ignorance of Gods love, temptation not to go to confession,🤷 rule our thoughts, then we are prisoners in bondage of sin. That is not fun! I am now in the state of Sanctifying Grace, :angel1:“not in the state of sin.” It feels pretty darn good.
It is my prayer that anyone who has put this sacrament off for long, should take time to search for “How to make a good Confession” on the internet, reflect on it, and pray over it, and as the Liturgy of Hours antiphon suggested to me “The time for penance has come, the time to atone for our sins and to seek our salvation.”
God bless you, I am praying for you. Here is a box of tissues, you may need them :tissues: 🙂

The CCC is recommended reading. It is not mandatory reading.
According to Father Corapi, on EWTN TV, who has given talks around the world, that the Catechism of the Catholic Church is the teachings of the Church. He said “The truth is the truth, and there is no other.” He added “the doctrines and teachings of the Church are not democratic statements which we can vote on, they are facts of truth, and the truth is the truth, and the truth is Jesus Christ.”
The Catholic Catechism states in the preface by Pope John Paul “The Catechism of the Catholic Church, which I approved June 25th last and the publication of which I today order by virtue of my Apostolic Authority, is a statement of the Church’s faith and catholic doctrine, attested to or illuminated by Sacred Scripture, the Apostolic Tradition, and the Church’s Magisterium. I declare it to be a sure norm for teaching the faith and thus a valid and legitimate instrument for ecclesial communion”
The Catechism is what all Catholics are to study, and to “accept” as what we are to do to follow Christ and his True Church, with its teachings, without exception. It has been revised in the latest version from the Vatican II so that “it will deepen the the knowledge of the faithful on the riches of salvation, to be used in ecumenical efforts that are moved to the desire for the unity of Christians, showing careful the content and wondrous harmony of the Catholic faith.”
We cannot just refer to it as a guideline to make up our own decisions about our faith, it is the foundation and truth we are to accept and cultivate in our spiritual growth. Please read the introduction to the Catechism for other facts about it, that are very interesting to know. Thank you for sharing. God bless. 🙂
