When is desire sinful?

What the title says. I have my own great desires, and I want to know when it would be sinful
 
Desire is sinful when it’s disproportionate. Money, sex, security, and good food are all good things: wanting them so much you steal, commit adultery, wipe out troublesome ethnic minorities, or hurt your health, is excessive.

Desire for goodness is good, but there can be desire that is in opposition to the true good who is God. It is important to know, however, that desire in opposition to the true good is at first only a temptation, not a sin. What the person does in response to that temptation is crucial. A Christian is called to resist and reject temptations when they come.

When a person first becomes aware of a desire that leads away from God, he can either resist it, or indulge in the desire through his imagination and enjoyment of just thinking about it. This is sinful - the interior cooperation with the evil desire. This is what Jesus referred to when He said, “…everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart…” (Mt 5:28) The initial temptation and interior movement of desire is not sinful - it becomes sin only if welcomed and enjoyed “in the heart.”

Of course it is even more sinful if acted upon outwardly.

For example when it is disordered such as either the thing itself that is desired or the means one wants to take etc
