When is Sabbath day really?

Help me, I’m confused.
Being a catholic, me and my family always go to church on Sundays. Then a friend told me that Sabbath day is actually Saturday because it is the seventh day of the week and God rested on the seventh day. Well my mom simply said "it’s tradition’. I want to be enlightened more about this please.

The sabbath is Saturday. Sunday is the Lord’s Day.
 
The Sabbath is Saturday. That’s simply a fact of history.

But the Catholic obligation is towards keeping holy the Lord’s Day, which is Sunday.
 
Sabbath is SATURDAY, but we celebrate Mass on SUNDAYS, THE DAY THE LORD ROSE…
 
The Sabbath is, was and always will be Saturday. This is still the Jewish day of rest. But (almost all) Christians transfer the day of worship and the obligations of the 3rd Commandment to Sunday, because, as people have pointed out, it’s the day Jesus rose from the dead.

As an interesting, slightly related question, does anyone know why Muslims worship on Friday?

The Jewish Sabbath begins at Sundown Friday and extends until sundown Saturday. If I am not mistaken, Islam does not have an official Sabbath but uses the sixth day of the week, Friday, as an obligatory day of public worship, which is at noon. I have heard that historically it had something to do with the Market day which in antiquity was on Fridays and stopped at noon. Since most people would be involved in either buying or selling at the market during this time, noon on Fridays was considered an opportune and convenient time to gather the people together for obligatory public prayers…

Thats how it was explained to me anyway.
 
Sabbath is setting aside all creation and putting our focus on God. He gave us everything (literally) in 6 days, all He asks is we offer our entire selves back to Him on the 7th.

and you can usually go to Mass on Saturday evening which counts as Sunday.

The Church celebrates Mass every day. However it’s our obligation to go on Sundays and keep Sunday holy.

In Latin, Saturday is called “Sabbato” which means Sabbath.
