Hi everyone,

When is someone called homosexual or bisexual? I mean, one may have some attraction to their same sex but not wanting those desires to come true, while still liking their opposite sex… is that considered being a homosexual or bisexual or something along those lines?

And yes, I’m talking about me here. Please pray for me.

I would say there’s a problem when you can think of that person in a sexual manner. I mean, I’ve been attracted to a few women before but I could never imagine doing anything sexual with them. Some women are just very awesome. 😛

And every person has thoughts about various things they’d rather not think about. It’s indulging those thoughts that is an issue.

Keep praying.

Ignore them and move on, it’s too trivial a matter for you to concern yourself with. Perhaps you should pray more, but that’s about it.

Regardless of whether your desires are “wanted” or not, that’s called bisexuality because you’re still attracted to the opposite sex too, and if you’re attracted to the opposite sex, you’re not a homosexual, but if you’re attracted to the same sex, you’re not a heterosexual.

Whether you can change or not, I don’t know. But of course, the Church condemns same-sex ACTIONS as sinful. Whether it believes the inclination itself is genetic, environmental, a choice or otherwise, I’m not sure.

People usually label themselves as homosexual, bisexual or lesbian.

We don’t know unless they tell us or we walk in on them.

God knows though!

In Church terms homosexual means sexual relationships between same sexes.
In Church terms same sex attraction/inclination/tendency means no sexual relationship.

Same sex attraction (no sexual relationship) = Disordered but not a sin
Homosexual (sexual relationship) = Gravely disordered and a sin of grave matter

Bisexual would be having a sexual relationship with both sexes.

Actually Bisexual also means attraction to both sexes

The Church doesn’t label anyone as bisexual. It is labeled as disordered.
Sexual attraction to the same sex is disordered (not a mental disorder), the person is not disordered and nonsexual attraction to the same sex is not disordered

Sadly, I’ve entertained homosexual thoughts before, but even then, I didn’t see it as something bad, nor did I realize what the consequences of it would be, and when I decided to stop entertaining those thoughts, I realized I had created a homosexual attraction in myself. So… yes, I am sexually attracted to men, but I don’t EVER want to have a relationship with a man.

The thing is, I don’t know if I am sexually attracted to women, too… I like women, and of course I would like to be married and form a family.

Is it possible that I’m attracted to women, but in a non-sexual way? How can I know this?

Thank you all for your opinions. 🙂

Some women have rape fantasies, but I’m pretty damn sure they don’t want to actually be raped.

Does the thought of sex with a woman disgust you? If the answer is no then you could definitely have a relationship with a woman.

If you are romantically or sexually attracted to both genders at any level you are a bisexual. If you are only attracted romantically or sexually to the same gender you are gay.I am a happily married bisexual woman. It is hard to remain chaste sometimes, but I am.

Good amount of the time, the idea of sex with anyone disgusts me. And I’m not some young teen either. I’m of the age where I should be starving to fertilize my last egg, or at least that’s what it seems others think. Maybe I’m straight, leaning towards asexual. Even on this forum, I get all sorts of awkward responses to my disinterest. Been there, done that, it wasn’t special and nobody is going to make it so.

/rant

But I reiterate, I think if you’ve never had sexual interest in someone of the same sex, you’re not gay.

Wanting the sex but not wanting a relationship is rather interesting. I think I recall a gay man on TV saying that women’s parts frightened him and that he preferred men, but wants to have a wife and kids to be normal. I would think he’s still gay because he doesn’t want full union with a woman but wants the family.

Well I am a female bisexual and I only have sexual attraction to other women and I have no romantic attraction to them. With men though I have both sexual and romantic attraction.

By the way there are asexuals out there and they receive a lot of flack for it, but I for one feel for these people. Sometimes it is a physical issue, sometimes a mental one, and if they are wanting to have a spouse and family they should seek a doctor.

JL2011,
bisexuality, homosexuality are false concept of human sexuality. Just similar to a concept that say “The earth is flat”.

The fact that our ancestors thought that the earth was flat, it didn’t really matter, the earth was and is still round.

So, do not succumb to falsehood by declaring it as your truth. If it tempts you, say no in jesus name. Sooner or later it will flee from you.

To succumb to falsehood is to live a lie. Surely the evil one will accuse you as a hypocrite when you actually confessing the truth, and praise you as “honest” when you succumb to a lie. THAT in itself is the essence of the lie: to denonce known truth and replace it with obvious falsehood.

You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free!

So your eyes will be open, and see the light!

Please define sexuality, homosexuality and bisexuality

homosexuality , bisexuality is not a form of sexuality, each of them is a form of disordered condition.

A form of sexuality has to have a potential to reproduce, otherwise we dont call it sexuality.

in the case of bisex, only the act of heterosexuality has a potential of reproduction. thus in the end their sexuality is not really bisex.

The usage set forth from the original post is different, the definitions as used here are
Dictionary.com:
Bisexuality; noun, a person sexually responsive to both sexes; ambisexual.
Dictionary.com:
Homosexuality; noun, sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one’s own sex.
As your definitions do not this gives us three choices, 1) argue endlessly, 2) you use the definitions in the original post allowing us to have a potentially productive conversation or 3) we stop talking
