In our thread, we are discussing the question as to when the Consecration is completed.

Some feel that it is completed after the priest intones “This is my blood…” etc.

Other feel that it is completed (finished in total) when the congretation replies with our profession of Faith: “Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.”

Can someone help us with the answer? Thanks!

Hi,

The matter here is not dependant on how anyone feels, but on what the Church teaches. The consecration is complete when the validly ordained priest finishes the words of consecration. The congregation’s response is just that–and ONLY that. This is pretty basic stuff. I don’t know why this would be a matter of discussion. There is nothing to discuss!
