The 10 commandments are a good theory too. It is in living them that we fulfill our commitment to God, not in ignoring them.

All moral precepts are to guide us in how to act. But each must follow his own choice: Life or Death, Light or Darkness. Which will you choose.

We will never live in a society where all live according to the moral teachings of the Church this side of the 2nd coming.

And what I presented was the reality of what happened in New Orleans.

The idea that one may steal to avoid starvation emphasizes “one.” At a certain point, too many ones become a mob.

What should have been done in New Orleans (among many things that should have been done) was to provide security at stores and make sure everyone who needed food and basic supplies got their fair share.

Yes, one of the biggest mistakes in New Orleans was herding people into huge stadiums. People behave more effectively in smaller groups. Eleven shelters were planned for NO. We only heard of two.

If the Mayor and Governor had planned to kill that city, they could hardly have done a more thorough job of it.
