Life is doing the ‘real’ thing to me right now. My kids are having teenage struggles. I can’t fix things for them and that is very hard for a mama’s heart. My husband is having a tough time at work and has just gone on blood pressure meds. I need a job and have had a difficult time getting one as I haven’t worked for the best part of 18 years. There’s plenty more but I won’t bore you.
I am currently in RCIA and it is a bright spot in my week, tbh. I live for the two Masses I get to each week. I feel like I am hanging on by my fingertips to reality, and can’t see an end to my troubles. I KNOW life is like this, but I’m only human and need some consolation. I know intellectually that consolation doesn’t come for the asking, but I still find myself longing for some relief from the worry. Does anyone have any advice?

Good luck and thoughts and prayers to you. I have found many jobs on craigslist so my best advice would be to stay busy in your search for work. Once that happens, it really feels your day with accomplishment and takes your mind off other troubles. Besides searching for work, try to occupy your time with constructive habits, going out, joining clubs/groups of things you enjoy doing, athletic, academic or other. It’s very hard but try to keep a positive mental attitude, that’s half the battle. Tomorrow will be kinder.

Yep, craigslist is where everyone posts their want adds these days.

Just know that when you get close to CHrist it angers the prince of lies. Expect problems, but you can cope because we have hope in Christ, we have guardian angels protecting us we have prayer and Eucharist to fortify us.
I will pray for you in a special way this year, as I am an RCIA Director.
God bless you dear one, Feel free to PM me at times.

“Now, all our peace in this miserable life is found in humbly enduring suffering rather than in being free from it. He who knows best how to suffer will enjoy the greater peace, because he is the conqueror of himself, the master of the world, a friend of Christ, and an heir of heaven.” (Imitation of Christ, 2, 3)

Pope Pius XII called the imitation of Christ a “golden book”. This book was quoted by Pope John Paul I in one of his few Wednesday general audiences.

Wisdom is useful said St. Bonaventure in his Commentary on Ecclesiastes. It points us to love as a sacrifice for God. It benefits your family and your neighborhood. Fill your mind with heavenly teachings on the Scriptures and confess them within and without the peripheries. That is my best advice.

When I would find that circumstances were particularly troublesome, I would make a little extra time to go to church a little bit earlier so that I could just sit quietly in church before Mass started.

I would also go to Adoration, and find a parish that had Adoration available and do the same. There is nothing like Adoration before the Lord either, to calm your mind and also bring peace to you. 🙂

Jesus has you 🌺
and we, your online Catholic community, we got your back. 🙏🕊️…with prayer.
