If he was God, wouldn’t he be praying to himself. Jesus and God are two different entities , how can a man be God? Man is imperfect, we use the toilet, eat, have bodily functions how is that perfect?

God does not need prayer for Himself . God does not need anyone’s help to save Him from enemies. No one can do any harm to our Creator . God has full control over His creations.

Please use the Catholic.com part of this site and look up the Trinity. Also, see the various heresies related to it, such as Gnosticism.

Hi Jastor,
Welcome to the Forum. I’ll try to answer your questions:
Did his followers believe he was the God they were praying too?
One school of thought is that they fell away and hid in the upper room. That is why two had to run to the tomb to see for themselves and Thomas had to put his finger in Jesus’ hand.
If he was God, wouldn’t he be praying to himself.
Yes and sometimes I talk to myself and encourage myself as while I doing something hard. “Come on … you can do it …” But then again Jesus was also Human and in his humanity he was asking for clairity and strength.
Jesus and God are two different entities , how can a man be God?
Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit are different entities of the same person. This is one of the tenants of our Christian faith. If you struggle with this, I would encourage you to look into a RCIA program. Without this Holy Mistry, then we are no better than the non-believer.
Man is imperfect, we use the toilet, eat, have bodily functions how is that perfect?
Yes, Man is (name removed by moderator)erfect because of the in we inherited from Adam which was passed from generation passed. Jesus was born without sin because he was concieved by the power of the Holy Spirit. as for ‘bodily functions’ they are part of God’s design for the human creature - man.

We can of course reflect on this part of Jesus’ life by the saying Mary, the mother of Jesus, gave us when she changed the first holy diaper:
"This stinks to High Heaven. 😃

Thanks for all those who are not sarcastic to me and have attempted to help me in this difficult time. However I am just not understanding and no amount of classes , faith, or posting will help that. Maybe that is where we are not supposed to use common sense but faith alone.
Thanks again.

the NT narrative is a flashback; the apostles were not even sure what He was going to accomplish as a Messiah; their knowledge and awareness and understanding grew step by step until after the resurrection.
If he was God, wouldn’t he be praying to himself.

‘when Jesus died’…meaning good Friday…not sure about but,

after Jesus died and rose,
John 20:28
“And Thomas answered and said unto him,
My Lord and my God.”

You were quite right in your original post.

But God gave you a brain–he expects you to use it, no? The truth should be obvious, you shouldn’t have to believe something that doesn’t make sense, like Jesus being a God who prayed to God. Clearly his disciples did not consider him to be God, and Jesus prayed, indicating he was not God. And he ate, and drank, and slept, and used the toilet. These things are not fitting of God–who has no need of such things. He sustains us, providing us with food, not the other way around.

You shouldn’t have to believe something that doesn’t make sense. God created you, with a heart to believe and a brain to think and you need to use both.

Could Vishnu harm your God?

Bodily functions may be gross to us :pbut they are all part of our body’s beautiful way of digesting food and getting rid of the resulting waste. When you read about how our bodies work it really is amazing.🙂

Faith must trample under foot all reason, sense, and understanding.

Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has.

Too bad your supernatural God, didn’t create a supernatural means to dispose of our waste.

Funny, we were created by a supernatural God, yet everything seems so, well un-supernatural.

You are incorrect. Yes, common sense and intelligence can be used in our faith. Your problem is that you see the balance of the bodily functions as being dirty or improper.

Study some books on human anatomy or the workings of our body. You will be amazed at the beauty that God created when he designed us.🙂

If God made it so that waste mysteriously disappeared that would seem unsupernatural to you also, because you would be used to it happening.🤷

I think that it is amazing how not only our body’s work but how the process of decay works when something dies and is incorporated back into the soil. God did a good job!👍

Gods virus and bacterium making skills, especially the ones that kill us, are also quite breath taking.

Are you required to believe that your prophet flew up to paradise on some kind of a flying horse?
No, he did not “fly up to Paradise on some kind of a flying horse,” and it’s not required to believe something that either. (Especially since it didn’t happen.)

Nice try though.

(I wonder how long it will take for someone to obnoxiously point out to me what you meant to say. But since I cannot judge people’s intentions, I will respond here only to what you did say.)
