When Same Sex Marriage was a Christian Rite?

Ok, I just came across this article which I admit is quite old, but it was brought to my attention through a Pinterest pinner, so I suppose some people are still reading it.

It tells of different instances in the Christian Church where they celebrated same sex union, yet I don’t see any REAL sources mentioned… just mentions of certain documents and museum documents etc. Anyone interested in clarifying these claims? It’s got to be misinterpreted findings claimed by pro-same-sex-union authors, because afterall, this article was written in 2009 and I don’t see many pro same sex marriage people talking about it much. I just hope this can be nipped in the bud before pinterest wakes it up again.

The medieval church showed many examples of honouring close male relationships for their spiritual value, from Aelred of Rievaulx’s book, ‘On Spiritual Friendship’, to the love letters and poetry addressed by many bishops and abbots to their own beloveds.

In the Western Church, the practice of making ‘sworn brothers’ included liturgical rituals, celebrated in church with the Eucharist, and created legal ties of kinship between the families: an equivalent term for ‘sworn brother’ was ‘wedded brother’.
