When should I replace my scapular?

So my scapular is still very new (only a few days old) but it’s already starting to get a little “worn.” The chord is fraying in places and the pictures on the tags are starting to fall apart. Should I burn this one and wait for the new one to arrive in the mail? I could probably sow the chord back together with some thread, but I am puzzled about what to do with the pictures. They’re on a fabric sown onto the brown tags, so I don’t know if washing them off would count as abusing a sacramental or be basically “cleaning” it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

If you are going to receive a new one in the mail, I would suggest just wear the one you have now until you get a new one. It shouldn’t fall apart on you especially for such a short temporary time. You could order a new one online for free because there are many good websites to get them for free that are of good quality sometimes.

Pax.

Can you use stainless steel scapulars? I could understand a medal, but aren’t scapulars meant to be made of fabric?
You could be right. I need to do this though because I live in a tropical country and sweat a lot. I hope the Blessed Virgin will accept this. 🙂

I wear my scapular tell the pictures on the cloth faded away.
