well… thanks for any advice y’all can give on this, i know its not exactly a morality question or anything of that nature, but i’d rather go to a catholic website to ask for advice than somewhere like yahoo.
i’m seventeen, i turn 18 in a month and i have been dating my girlfriend for 8 months (soon to be 9 months). we are both catholic and very involved with our faith. we have been friends since grammar school, and really great friends in high school. sometime in our junior year we started dating (perhaps you could call it courting - i know thats how i think of it) and over these past 8 months i know (with alot of prayer as well) that i am without any doubt, in love with this women.
i know that at any moment i would be perfectly fine with confessing to her that i would like to spend the rest of my life with her, and she is absolutely someone i would love to marry.
i dont believe in the “only one person” thing, but i believe she is definitely “A person” or the type of person i would want my wife to be. my concern is this, obviously we are young, and she has said in a conversation: “it sounds like alot of what your saying is a bout marriage, and not that i dont want that, i’m just not thinking about that now”
she said that during school before exams and what not, we’ve never talk about either of us marrying each before, and we have not even talked about going to college together. i’ll admit i am somewhat afraid of bringing those topics up - especially when i have never told her that i love her. (i treat the word very seriously, i dont say things like i love that movie, or i love that game)
any advice you could give would be tremendous, i really appreciate it, and catholic forums in general
