When they know better than God

“I’d rather spend all eternity in Hell than with you.” That’s how people wind up there- they choose it.
Prayer is so needed in our world right now. We are in such spiritual warfare. I myself feel very much compassion for people that are same sex attracted. But if God says it’s wrong (actually He says it’s an abomination) then so be it. It is disordered and not to be condoned. It is a sin. The Church needs to find a way to help these people live in chastity. Sorry if I got off topic somewhat. But we have to accept what the Church says. The Church is clear about it. Our job is to love the people that are “cultural Catholics” and those that are SSA with compassion but with clear direction and precepts. Charity is helping people get to heaven, not telling them what they want to hear, and ALWAYS showing LOVE.

This particular person is neithe rSSA nor a cultural Catholic, but I do agree with you on all of that.

I ask for continued prayers for this person. Amazingly, he’s currently reading a work by one of the great Christian apologists, and is loving it! It’s quite amazing to see the things happening!

Suggest that he read the Fr. James Martin book A Jesuit’s Guide to Almost Everything. it’s very good at meeting people where they are, and explaining rather than arguing.

Many many people think this way. There comes a time when words are not enough. At times like this IF you really love like Jesus tears should flow for their lost. Many a person was won through tears than words, works, or threats of Hell.

Just an update: he’s been reading some theology and is quite into it, and looking at how it applies to his life, how he measures up; he’s also got tickets to go see a very Catholic play about mercy, revolving around one of the saints.
