When to get items blessed

So I am new to my parish and to Catholicism (just started RCIA a few months ago) and I had a question about the appropriate time to get items blessed by one of the priests. I have a very eager friend who sort of threw me at one of the priests after Mass to get my Miraculous Medal and Crucifix blessed and her own new medals blessed, and I felt like it annoyed him. My daughter, however, (who is nine) asked the Pastor to bless her St. Anthony medal after Mass last Sunday and he seemed more than happy to do so.

My question is: Are there better times to ask for blessings on items instead of right after Mass? I have two Rosaries and a few more medals I would like to have blessed, but the last thing I want to do is annoy one of them when they are trying to greet the parish and prepare for the next Mass. I don’t really know our priests yet as none of them have come to our RCIA classes yet (although I am told that the Pastor does like to stop by a few times).

Thanks so much!

I am a Deacon, and I don’t know of a bad time. After Mass is definitely a good time.

I could definitely do that…Lol. I have this fear of bothering people and it holds me back sometimes, especially if I don’t know the person well.

You might be being too sensitive. I do the same thing myself but though it may be irritating to a priest sometimes (they’re human after all) don’t take it personally, if I feel annoyance I try to correct it quickly…and I’m not a priest!

God bless

3:37 am might be a bad time. All other times are probably ok though.

Just ask if it is a good time, or offer to leave the item you want blessed in the sacristy/parish office. Today, I had some salts that needed blessed and i just asked if it was a good time and done no waiting.
