I don’t know when it’s appropriate to say a mass for someone. Is it appropriate only when someone is in imminent danger of death or has already died or is it appropriate if their sick (either physically or you are praying for their moral conversion)? Thanks so much!
At my church, there’s a three month backlog - I was able to get a mass said for my uncle on Feb 21st for a 630AM mass. My grandma was at imminent risk of death, but after 12 days the family realized she wasn’t taking her medication and thus she regained the ability to eat when she resumed taking her medications. She’s 102 years old.
My mother-in-law is sick and while she was at risk of dying as she was in the ICU for a week and has a long recovery ahead as well as new adjustments to life (aka having to check her blood sugar and having to wear a bag), she’s no longer at imminent risk of death.
What should I pray for? My uncle has a mother, two children, and three siblings as well as a spouse and the three siblings also have spouses. My mother-in-law has two children, a spouse, and one sibling.
