I’m trying to decide when to put up our OUTDOOR nativity scene. Normally, indoors we put up our stable and the animals. On Christmas Eve we add Joseph and Mary and Christmas morning we add Baby Jesus and the shepherds. The magi are added on Epiphany. I can’t decide when to put up our outdoor nativity. It is a really nice set that I put under a tree amongst the greenery. Everyone’s got their Christmas lights up now and our house is black because we don’t put our Christmas lights up until the Feast of St. Lucy. If I put the nativity up now, maybe it will help the neighbors remember the real meaning of Christmas and give them a chance to act on any inspiration. If I wait until Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, it may have more punch (if you know what I mean) and it would be technically more accurate as that would actually be the start of Christmas. We are surrounded by houses lighted to the hilt. My daughter said it looks like we are lazy! I asked her if she remembered “Charlie Brown’s Christmas”. We have lots of advent activities together with an active prayer, Mass, and preparation schedule so the outdoor decorations are more for the neighbors’ benefit. Any ideas, thoughts or opinions you have to offer would be welcome. Thanks!

We put up our lights / nativity around December 16th. This is nine days (a novena) before Christmas. This is also the start of the Hispanic tradition of Las Posadas. The baby Jesus is laid down in the nativity after Christmas Eve Mass. It all stays up until the feast of Epiphany.

I think is important to base our traditions to reflect the meaning of Christmas and not necessarily what Wal-Mart or our neighbors think we should do.

Enjoy Advent!

We like to put ours out the weekend of Thanksgiving, this gives us all of December to enjoy the Outdoor Nativity Set. They are so simple to install why not keep up all month long?

We have several customers that put up our nativity sets for special occasions and long weekends.

See how easy they are to install Outdoor Nativity Sets
