I have read that when my brown scapular wears out that since I’m enrolled I can just replace it without getting the new one blessed. Is this true and when is it time to replace it? How worn out is worn out enough?
I can’t think of any reason why a repaired scapular would be rendered useless. Please help me!
I can’t find the answer to this question anywhere. I have a brown scapular and just recently one of the strings broke, but I was able to sew it together with a blue string to fix it. My question is… is this still a scapular? or has is it just pieces of a scapular? I know i’m suppose to bury broken ones beyond repair… but what if i repaired it? if anyone could help i would really apreciate it
Identical to Fidelis’ post, with the exception that if I don’t have another available right away, I’ll repair the cord for interim wearing.I always replace mine when one of the strings break (about one a year, so far). Since scapulars are so inexpensive it doesn’t make sense to me to repair it.
Like other sacramentals, it should be disposed of in a respectful manner. I personally believe this is the case even if it is not the original blessed scapular.
