When to start bringing down Christmas decorations

When is the best time to start putting away Christmas decorations and nativity scenes?
 
For me, it’s whenever I get around to it. So far, I haven’t had the Christmas decorations still up at Easter. 😃
 
When I get tired of looking at them, but usually not until after New Year’s.

This is my plan, which I don’t follow 100% of the time – but I try.

Anything Advent related gets put away right after Christmas Day such as Advent wreath and Advent calendars.

Nothing else gets put away until Jan 6. I’ll start putting things away today. First will be the outdoor lights and probably the tree itself. Little by little I will put the rest away but the nativities stay until Feb 2 (Candlemass). They are the last to be packed.
 
Not until we celebrate The Baptism of the Lord; the end of the liturgical season of Christmas.
 
According to the USCCB, the Christmas season lasts until and including Jan. 11.
 
I’ve only put away the tree so that I can put the pack-n-play back up. The rest is still up.
 
We sing Christmas carols in our parish until Feb 2. I enjoyed my first carol on Christmas eve, so I’m not ready to be putting things away just yet.

We are celebrating the baptism of the Lord this evening! 😃

Although not a believer, I am a big Christmas fan. However, I usually let my Catholic wife make decisions such as this. She has a hard and fast January 6 rule. Although with the approach of a nasty winter storm, I took down the outside lights on Sunday. If I hadn’t, no telling when I’d be able to take them down.
 
You know, I never really get to putting decorations up anymore in the first place. The main reason? I’m generally out of town with my wife’s family over Christmas. Also, I’d have a hard time paying the electric bill for the lights! Seriously, though, I see no problem if people were to keep their basic decorations (lights, Nativity scenes) up for the entire year (though keeping up giant Santa Clauses and the like would be a bit much). The lights celebrate Jesus Christ, the light of the world. He remains the light of the world throughout the year - not just during Christmas.
 
You can’t wait too long around here because it seems the Halloween decorations go up earlier and earlier 😃
 
Advent wreath–Christmas Eve late in the day or early in the evening (~vespers)

Fresh stuff gets taken down as soon as it looks tired and pathetic.

Everything else–Jan 6 or later. Not too long after the first week in Ordinary time. I’d like to have something that lasts until Mardi Gras, but that isn’t a local custom.
 
Advent stuff is replaced by Christmas stuff on Christmas Eve. The Christmas decorations are always left up until after Epiphany (using the traditional Jan 6 date), and usually until after the Baptism of the Lord. After that, it just depends on how soon we are sick of having the living room furniture rearranged, and when it is easy to get it done.
