I’m reading the famous The Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn. On page 48, he said regarding how many early Christians could not read: “So where did Christians receive the Gospel? In the Mass–and then, as now, they got the full Gospel. The readings you hear at Mass are preprogrammed for a three-year cycle in a book called the lectionary.” A page earlier, he stated that “Catholics who attend Mass daily hear almost the entire Bible read to them in the course of three years…”
When was the first lectionary? Was it the one referenced here?
And what parts of the Bible are not part of the 3-year cycle?
