When we pray , what justifies us knowing that God "knew what we meant"?

When we pray , what justifies us knowing that God “knew what we meant”?

For instance, if one prays in the mind “help me” and by “help” you mean “help me reach salvation” then does God know that and respond to your prayer as such?

Also, if that is true, then is it possible to pray w/o even mentally voicing the words -virtually praying -since we already admitted that one does not have to actually specify what “help” meant but rather that your virtual intention is what God hears?

A better of saying might be to say “God’s grace is not impeded by our inability to put into words the desires and prayers in our hearts.”

God read’s people’s hearts…so of course He knows what we mean. No, we don’t even have to mentally voice the words. I can just appeal to God in my heart and He knows I am asking for help.

I can say “I really need help to do well today” and God knows I need help at work, which is what I was feeling in my heart. He even knows I’m talking to Him, without saying “**God **I really need your help to do well today.” Why would it be any other way?

That’s one of my favorite aspects of prayer. God knows us so intimately and so much better than we know ourselves. More often than not, I would guess our words can tend to get in the way. Sitting in silence, simply placing ourselves in a position where we are aware of God’s complete presence can be an amazing form of prayer by itself. He knows what you need, He knows what you want, He knows what you struggle with, He knows what will help you to get closer to Him.

A prayer where not a word is spoken can be the best prayer there is.

If we take the concept of God’s omniscience at face value, it’s quite logical to presume he knows what we’re thinking at all times and in such precise detail that we can’t even fathom how infinitely he knows us. When we approach God in prayer, God knows why we approached him even if we don’t say it in prayer because he always knows what we are thinking. What we say is extremely superficial compared to what God understands when we pray to Him. I think it’s safe to say that because we only know ourselves dimly compared to the way God knows us, we never truly know how to express our truest, deepest desires when we pray. We’re just so limited.

One of my favorite verses in the bible is Romans 8:26.

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

What an amazing thought- That the Holy Spirit intercedes for us.

Even though, we may ask for things that are not good for us, or we may fumble at what we should say, the Spirit steps in for us. So we can be sure that God knows exactly what we need.

That’s called contemplation. Part of that is accepting that we have no idea, really, what our intention should be other than becoming one with God’s Will. So there are no words. Just “naked intent, stretching to God.”
