Does any one know when an new Liturgy of the Hours Supplement will come out? I’ve looked for them but all I can find is one from 1992. I would love to have one with Padre Pio and Mother Theresa in it.

Thanks for the help and God Bless.

I wish I knew the same thing. I have a supplement from 1993 that has not been updated since. I have said the Divine Office for many years but, now find I have to buy the guides just so that I know what feast day it is because there are MANY new feasts both on the regular calender and on the Franciscan one that I use that are simply not there. The copywrite on my large print breviary is 1974 if I’m not mistaken. I guess if the Pope decided to put it back in Latin maybe we’d get a new edition. I don’t know whether it’s Catholic Hymnal publication or the folks in Rome but, I’m not holding my breathe. There was a big to-do about mass changes too and haven’t see that yet either.

You can always use the appropriate common from the Office.

Not always, even in the old days, were full offices composed for newly canonized saints.

If you can pray in Latin, the last Latin Supplement was published by Libreria Editrice Vaticana in 2005, and is available through the Daughters of St Paul, or Paxbook.com.

For English translations, my guess is there wouldn’t be another supplement, given that ICEL will eventually produce a new translation in accordance with Liturgiam Authenticam. No one knows when that will be completed, but it wouldn’t make much sense to publish a supplement when a new translation is anticipated.

If you’re using the British edition The Divine Office, we have no supplement since the books were first published in 1974. I use the texts in the Commons, or the Latin texts directly.

Padre Pio may be in it but Mother Theresa will not since she is not on the universal calendar. What I usually do for the new feasts is either use the new Latin texts (I can send them to you if you’re interested), or if a particular religious order has had texts for the feast for some time (as is the case for the Holy Name of Jesus, and the holy name of Mary), and I’ve managed to obtain them, then I use those.

Blessed Theresa does have Second Reading and Prayer (see here), but these can only be used where her cult has been granted. I suppose theoretically, since you’re a layperson you could pray it, but…

Since the prayer in the Office is generally the same as the Collect in the Mass texts I just take the prayers for the newer saints from my copy of Magnificat.
