When you pray what form does answered prayer occur for you?

When you pray what form does answered prayer occur 4 you?

An example might be.
I read it in a bible verse.
Or he spoke to my heart
Or I had a dream
Or… Fill in the …blank?

I trust my Father, when I pray it is always “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. He watches the sparrows, He watches me and He loves others more than I can.

So, I trust.
 
I prayed and lost my job. Found another job at lower pay with LONG commute. Continued to pray. Daily. For a year. Was observed unknown to me, praying. Confessing. The observer converted. I got fired again but found a better situation almost right away. Somebody else got their prayer answered. It was humbling to say the least that God decided TO USE ME. Wasn’t fun at the time.
 
Two times (edited, I remembered a second time) I asked for a specific sign and got it. I don’t do this often. It was a super important matter in both cases.
One of the cases I told the Lord I was going to open the Missalette at random and please guide me to the part He wanted me to read. It opened to a reading that was spot-on and answered my prayer just like that.

Sometimes I hear a voice in my head that I figure is from God or Mary.

Other times if it’s a prayer for something non-specific (like help with a certain situation that’s ongoing) I just get a more peaceful feeling or better able to cope after a while and that to me is an answer that I’m receiving grace and help.

Sometimes scripture, sometimes thru other people (random statements that seem to answer a question I prayed about), sometimes “lightbulb moments”, most of the time circumstance.

Most recently, I was praying to Jesus and asking Him about Mary. As a background, I am just starting to get back into faith and I am having a hard time understanding the value of praying TO Mary. If I can pray to Jesus/God the Father directly, why pray TO Mary?

Later that same day, I opened my bible (Catholic Women’s Devotional Bible) and it opened to the section where it explains the Marian tradition. I am understanding now that we are not praying to her, rather more of praying WITH her and asking her to be our advocate. If we can ask our friends to pray for us, why can’t we ask Mary? Also, I began thinking of my friend’s and loved ones mothers – I always treat them with respect and want my friends and love ones to treat MY mom that way. Jesus wants me to treat his mom with that same regard.

Sorry for digressing but that experience was pretty recent and I was shocked that my question/prayer was answered so clearly and quickly 🙂

Frankly - -still getting the “hang” of saying hello to Mama and asking her to pray with me but I understand the why of her more…if that makes sense. hahahah
 
Besides “big” things (e.g. world peace, the souls in purgatory, the conversion of my own heart), I make a point to ask for daily little practical things. For example, since I’m restoring a 100 year old house and needed wavy glass for some window replacement, I prayed that my window guy would come across a stash (you can’t buy it). Two weeks later and daily prayer to my house go-to saint, St. Joseph, I got the call that he now has it in stock.
Since I pray for little needs everyday, either I always get them or something happens where I no longer need whatever I was praying for.
 
Usually totally different than what I expect and a lot better/nicer in the end.
 
I once prayed for a good confessor. It was the best confession in my life then. So I guess it worked.

Maybe because it was my first serious confession in my life

My HUGE major petitions, I’m still waiting on His response. But I find that He usually responds very quickly to my little “prayer arrows” - - for example, “Lord, how should I word this email??” (when say I’m really upset and I want to send a nastygram). I started journaling last year and find that He has actually responded to some of my prayers without even me realize until I read back to my entries!
 
I rarely ask directly for something material because I trust Scripture and God’s track record in my life. However, once my family needed a new vehicle (I have 3 kids). So with some of our tax refund I headed to the used car lot with my eye on a certain van. It was a lot more than I’d expected or thought was fair, the salesmen wouldn’t budge and I left. That evening I basically said “Lord, you know we need a new car, but I just can’t afford that particularly price, so help me out.” Two days later my dad bought a new van and gave us his old one.

Over time I’d say my “answers” most often come in the form of Scripture, like those read during Mass, from my wife (I firmly believe the Lord speaks to us through our spouses) or during my private prayer time as images or thoughts that I wouldn’t be able to attribute to myself (usually because they prompt me to do the very things I’m trying to avoid, like giving up a certain T.V. show or mending a relationship).
 
All of them. God always answers all of my prayers.

Of course the answers are more often than not the ones I don’t like. But then He is God, not a dispenser of pleasing things.

I normally do not ask for signs concerning my intentions, but I tried them lately, because I didn’t know what else to do.

Twice I saw the signs (excuse the pun), and I was so surprised, because I was expecting a no, chuckling there’s no way I’m gonna get the sign.

I requested two other signs for two different matters. I waited, thinking I would receive confirmation, but none.

These incidents gave me reassurance that I was asking correctly, and reduced the thought that maybe I was wrong all along.
 
I was told by a fellow parishioner to pray to St. Anthony to find missing things.

Well. I misplace my Rosary Beads ALL THE TIME.

But, I ask St. Anthony and extend my hand … and there they are.
