…what should one do? I work for someone who although I get along with him and like working with him most of the time, is devisive, and an aethiest. (self-proclaimed) We’ve gotten into some brief discussions about Christianity, and he has made it known that there’s a ‘higher power,’ but he doesn’t call him God. (and I don’t think he believes that Jesus is our Redeemer)
But, I honestly don’t judge him one way or the other on his religious views (although I feel sorry for him that he doesn’t accept Jesus as his Savior and I feel that this can be a root cause of his deceptive ways), and I truly pray for his soul, as often as I can. What DOES trouble me is that he is very devisive, says derogatory things about women to my coworker and me (we have a small dept.) and is now trying to undermine a very good career path opportunity for me. His boss called me a few days ago to share this path with me, and when my boss found out that he didn’t discuss it with him first, he flipped. (not on me, just was mad at his boss) Now, it appears as though he’s trying to thwart the opportunity.
I prayed about this, and have decided to give it to the Lord, as He makes all good things come from all situations. And, I feel God is telling me to pray for him, but to realize that this man is no friend of mine. (like he pretends to be–tells me he is looking out for my career bla bla bla–ha!)
And, I think God has revealed to me to continue to perform well, and to discussing a relocation move with the manager of the new area (where the career path lies which is Florida, I now live in PA) (My husband and I have talked about moving back to Florida, prior to this situation coming up-so I feel that this could be Divine intervention) So, that is what I will do. This story is missing a lot of details, but the crux of it is…what do you do when you have an unethical boss? He also reports sales numbers that are false to management…I handle a lot of the reporting, so I know the truth.
Finally, as part of this new career path, I was supposed to travel to Florida to introduce this new program to the Florida office, alone. On Friday, he asks me if I’d mind if he came and did the presentation with me. OOOOKKK. I actually don’t mind, since this is my first one, but still. I was told one thing, and now another happens. Basically, he’s all about him–what’s in it for him, and my coworker and I feel that he is frightened of losing his stance as my boss. (and ultimately hers, as the career path was presented to her, too)
Like I said, I think God has an amazing plan in all of this…but how would you handle an unethical boss?? Thanks for listening…and sorry if the details smudged together. LOL
