When you're the only Catholic around. .

Does anybody have any ideas for quick ways to interject little bits of devotional practices in when you only have a few minutes of free time at a time?

Try reading Brother Lawrence’s “The Practice of the Presence of God”. Also the prayer book Pieta is one that most of my friends really like. Prayer is the thing you need the most right now. “A Shorter Christian Prayer” might be a great place to start.
I am assuming you are in the Navy, shoot me a pm and I’ll see if I can hook you up with one of the Chaplain friends of mine.
If you ever get to Norfolk VA plllllllleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaasssssseee shoot me an email. There are loads of good catholic young adults around here if you know where to look. My house got nicknamed the monastery cause of all the guys living here. There is another house close by that has a bunch of girls, as its a girls house and I’m not dating any of them I don’t go over there often and don’t know how many in that house but in the group of friends there are at least a dozen girls living as roomates in different housholds. Even if it’s just for the day I know a couple parish priests that are modern versions of John Vieney, and if you need them, they will come.

I have a theory that works to a treat and it doesn’t take much. I work at the local Hospital about 2 thousand there and when I put on my uniform, prayer, tell Jesus
I leave all home at home and ask Him to look after them.
I ask Jesus to forgive me for any wrong doings, and I mention them if I can remember.
Then Iinvite the Holy Spirit to come in and speak through me.
I then put on my spiritual uniform a smile
a good word to say to those who are down,
and something good about the nurses Dr’s and any person who is in a bad mood.
I wear that all day and the people who smile back, exchange positive words and start helping others is excelent.
I feel like praising Jesus ALL day

I have one word for you… “sacramentals”.

Keep one in your pocket or around your neck. Use it to remind yourself of your faith and love of Christ and His love for you. One of my favourites is the St. Benedict’s cross.

I was the only catholic in the group of about 40 of us and 7 of us who work together. That was until one said he went to St Johns colledge where I knew it was a catholic school. I never questioned his arragant attitude but just tried to work with him. Last week as the team leader had a bad time I mentioned how i always allow the spiritual side of my life to rule. I never use the word catholic until they ask, I use the term christian relating to Jesus.

Any way with that bait out, he brought up some points of his life and this opened up to his sharing about his father and how he a (chillian) was brought up a catholic.
See what I mean, he opened up not me I just gave him the bait. From there I shared how christian to me is to share with others going to communion is the food but not all because the Holy Spirit is the speaker.
By the end of the night he wished to share his life of trying to take his life of other points and he wanted to share so he gave me his orange. That is how the spirit touched him that night. So now there are three catholics tw not church going andone who smiles shares enjoys their company andallows the Holy Spirit to speak andso from ther a relationship grows.
