I saw a Utube movie that recommended using Holy Water everywhere. On ATM machines, busses, cars, etc. They suggested that if the ATM machine that some terrorists had used had been blessed with Holy Water then it would have malfunctioned; if blessed, the bus some other evil doer had taken would have broken down etc.

Is that appropriate or is it bordering on superstition or even inappropriate application of Holy Water?

That’s kind of pushing things. I do, however, annoint my house with holy water before hurricanes. We have a diocesan approved prayer service which invokes the protection of God and asks Our Lady of Prompt Succor to protect the house and all within. It is a sacramental asking God’s help not some magic ritual to ward against evil.

when I was growing up, our neighbors kept a play mister bottle of holy water in the cabinet. They’d give a quick spritz whenever they felt it warranted. The kids used to come home from school and give a spray into their mouths!

How bout keeping a holy water font near the doors into the home. Bless yourself when you come in and go out to the meet the world.

It is traditional to do a house blessing using holy water on Epiphany.

I think they also used to spritz the holy water on “boo boos”, it hurt less than bactine and the kids knew that God had “kissed” their hurt.
