In another thread a lady commented that the Church does not help victims of abuse because it is too dangerous. Now, I am thinking from the early Church how many worse cases of threats, abuse, violence there were for being Christian…yet the Church did what is right even in the face of such atrocities. There are dioceses that do help victims of abuse.

If you ask a child who the real life super heroes are today they might say, police, fire fighters, Dr’s…where on the list would a priest or religious be?

Surely there are some priests or other religious who have stood up for what is right and possibly even risked being in a dangerous situation?

I don’t think anyone said this. What people are saying and what you’re hearing seem to be pretty far apart.

Someone made a comment in a separate thread that the Church does not offer help to victims of violence because that may put the people at the Church at danger (paraphrasing). However, there are dioceses that do offer assistance.

There are priest all over Africa, the Philippines, the Middle East, Communist countries and Latin America doing heroic things every day. Sometimes the heroism is just getting up and going about their daily business in countries where priests are regularly getting shot, kidnapped, and killed.

Bl. Stanley Rother and Bl. (soon to be Saint) Oscar Romero are two good examples of “superheroes” on the path to canonization.

By the way, while I don’t mind responding to your thread topic here, I agree with Boom Boom that you are mischaracterizing what people said in the other thread and that you are hearing something that wasn’t said.

It would be good if you would keep the topic of your previous thread within the previous thread and not be bringing it up in new threads that you start.

Justin Fatica through much suffering has a ministry that goes to young people with broken lives across the land. “Your Amazing.”
There is mission called 'Real Life Catholics."
There are those in the Vincent de Paul society.
There is Good Counsel Homes, Sisters of Life, an Coworkers for Life; that actually reach as many as they can in Missionaries of The Poor (Fr. Richard Ho Lung) and Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa) ways with a deep Eucharistic centered prayer life - and on mission every single day. This is one of the things The Holy Spirit Inspired John Paul ii to encourage and exhort as an integral concerted effort to form a vast ‘sign’ the world with every pastoral, educational and other work of The Church with Evangelium Vitae. In all due respect for those who sacrifice daily for these apropos solemn needed ministries - real life day to day heroes - I pray that someday this will be carried out to the farthest reaches of The Church at the grassroots and every level of stewardship in The Church. The need of the parents and children hasn’t gone away.

These are just some examples.
