Where can Catholics go to discuss the election? Since we can't do so here

🤷 Any suggestions?

I don’t want a site with just everyone and their dog - I would prefer a solid Catholic site where I can talk about the candidates and issues from a Catholic perspective. I understand why we can’t do that here, and so I hope there is somewhere we can go (and perhaps all go together for continuity sake) to talk about the upcoming presidential election in the United States.

Thanks much!

I know how you feel. I want to discuss it since I particularly have issues with the candidates. I find none of them to be worth voting for.

Campaign Finance Reform (which is what blocks us from using this forum to discuss politics) is based on the theory that political debate is too important to allow ordinary Americans to participate.

I would like to know of a good place to discuss also. I heard a well known Catholic politician on talk radio a couple of weeks ago.
He has thrown his hat in the ring once again and I have not even heard his name mentioned in the MSM.

I’ve asked Catholics in the Public Square if they would consider a temporary message board for the election. I think they would be perfect for such a thing. I’ll let you know if I hear back from them.

Wow, I didn’t realize we couldn’t discuss politics here anymore (I must’ve missed something). Can someone explain why that is?

Political correctness and cowardice, most likely.

This isn’t the pulpit, it is a public forum for the expression of ideas for pete’s sake.

Under Campaign Finance Reform, Catholic Answers can lose their tax-exempt status if they allow any candidate to be mentioned by name on these forums.

Fair enough, thanks Vern. Add that to my list of reasons why Campaign Finance Reform is garbage.

**I moderate on another web discussion forum. **

I would extend a welcome to anyone who wants to discuss politics to come over to the ForumsForums website. If you want, I can set up a Catholic area there, but I cannot guarantee that it will be a Catholic only area.

Easier for me would be just to have you go into the** OPEN FORUM** area and post there. Here is a link. forumsforums.com/3_9/index.php?

If you folks are interested, please head over to the ForumsForums for POLITICAL discussions. If there is a demand for it, I will set up a Catholic area for the election cycle, but as I stated earlier, it would be easy to just start using the OPEN FORUM area.

Just like here, you have to register to use the ForumsForums.

And they say America has free speech?

They used to – when I was younger.

In fact, instead of Political Correctness, “Hate Crimes” and “<Holocaust, Global Warming, whatevef> Denial” people used to quote, “I deplore what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it.”
