The easiest way is to go to confession on a regular basis. When you find a confessor you like, you can ask him if he does spiritual direction or if he can refer you to someone whose spiritual maturity and orthodoxy he trusts. Since you live in San Diego, I also recommend asking for a referral to a spiritual director from the Benedictine monks at Prince of Peace Abbey in Oceanside.
