Where can I find in the Bible a verse that mentions the existence of purgatory?

A friend of mine does not believe in purgatory saying it is not found in the Bible. I 'd like to tell her that what she says is wrong, but I can’t find a verse to support my belief. Where can I find a verse in the Bible that mentions the existence of purgatory?
