I recently sent an email that I received to all my friends regarding how society is pushing god out of our schools and life and how this will have a major effect on our world.

To my surprise, one of my friends emailed back stating that while he believes in God he dose not like to receive emails regarding religion only emails pertaining jokes and other “fun” emails which he referenced some emails that are were very crude in content.

I was trying to find the passage(s) in scripture where it talks about how society will start taking God out of daily life and some believers will conform to society even though they believe in Christ.

I don’t know if this makes any sense but if it does could someone please tell where it talks about that in the Bible.

God Bless.

I’m not sure you can find something that literally says what you’ve said above, but there is II Tim. 4:3-4.

I’m not sure that this applies to your friend just not wanting his e-mail inbox crowded with religio-political views he might not agree with. I know I’ve received e-mails from well-intentioned Christian friends promoting various political agendas I wasn’t keen on. It’s tempted me to make a blanket no-mass-email-except-for-jokes rule myself, although I’ve chosen not to.

If he’s a Christian and the “crude” e-mails you referenced were actually promoting sinfulness, then you might want to point that fact out to him. Apart from that, I’d respect his wishes. He probably wouldn’t object to a face-to-face religious discussion, but he just doesn’t want to deal with mass e-mails about religion.

Thank you for responding to my post. That does help a little. I do respect the wishes of others and do not want to offend anyone. I was trying to show him that by allowing society to take religon out of everything and making it something “bad” to talk about and just sitting back and saying “well this is not my problem and because talking about God is offensive to some people we should be silent and get rid of any public display and only have private display of religon” is a way of denying Christ.

Just as Peter denied Christ when the crowds where pointing out that he was one of Jesus’ desciples so are we when we do nothing to stop what has been going on in this country or we turn our backs and say “because society feels this way then I should just follow them”.

Romans 12 “be not comformed to the world” or something like that comes to mind.

For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity, will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth and will be diverted to myths. II Tim. 4:3-4

I also wonder if this would apply:

“To the angel of the church in Laodicea, write this: " 'The Amen, the faithful and true witness, the source of God’s creation, says this: “I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, ‘I am rich and affluent and have no need of anything,’ and yet do not realize that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I advise you to buy from me gold refined by fire so that you may be rich, and white garments to put on so that your shameful nakedness may not be exposed, and buy ointment to smear on your eyes so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and chastise. Be earnest, therefore, and repent.” '“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, (then) I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me. I will give the victor the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself first won the victory and sit with my Father on his throne.” ‘“Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’” Rev/ 3:14-22 NAB

Or maybe this:

*A PROPHECY of Saint Nilos, A hermit and Myrr-streaming of Mt. Athos, Greece - Died Nov. 12, 1651

"After the year 1900, toward the middle of the 20th century, the people of that time will become unrecognizable. When the time for the advent of the antichrist approaches, people’s minds will grow cloudy from carnal passions, and dishonor and lawlessness will grow stronger. Then they will become unrecognizable. People’s appearance will change, and it will be impossible to distinguish men from women due to their shamelessness in dress and style of hair. These people will be cruel and will be like wild animals because of the temptation of the Anti-Christ. There will be no respect for parents and elders; Love will disappear.

Christian pastors, bishops and priests will become vain men, completely failing to distinguish the right hand way from the left. At that time the morals and traditions of Christians and of the Church will change. People will abandon modesty, and dissipation will reign. Falsehood and greed will obtain great proportions, and woe to those who pile up treasures. Lust and adultery, homosexuality, secret deeds, and murder will rule in society. At that future time, due to the power of such great crimes and licentiousness, people will be deprived of the grace of the Holy Spirit, which they receive in the Holy Baptism, and equally of remorse.

The churches of God will be deprived of God fearing and pious pastors, and woe to the Christians remaining in the world at that time; they will completely lose their faith because they will lack the opportunity of seeing the light of knowledge from anyone at all. …and he (the AntiChrist) will produce miracles and fantastic signs. He will also give depraved wisdom to an unhappy man so that he will discover a way by which one man can carry on a conversation with another from one end of the earth to the other.

At that time man will also fly through through the air like birds and descend to the bottom of the sea like fishes. And when they have achieved all this, these unhappy people will spend their lives in comfort without knowing, poor souls, that it is the deceit of the Anti-Christ, and the Ungodly one! - he will so complete science with vanity that it will go off the right path and lead people to lose faith in the existence of God in three hypostases.

Then the All-Good God will see the downfall of the human race and will shorten the days for the sake of those few who are being saved, because the enemy wants to lead even the chosen into temptation, if that is possible. Then the sword of chastisement will suddenly appear and kill the perverder and his servants."

I can understand if your friend doesn’t want to get saturated with all sorts of religious stuff, but if he really loves God, he’s going to want to kow as much about Him and His Church as possible.

This is where it makes sense to ask your friend if he really knows God and if he really believes that our Lord did what He did because of His love for him. Then let him talk…

In Christ, Michael

Are you thinking of Romans 1:18-32?
The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened.
While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes. Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents. They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Hum?

Porn and jokes are OK but Jesus is taboo!

Your friend is an example of why our Protestant country is turing its back on God. The secular world in America is no place for God! Take your God and go home to Rome!

Pray for your friend.:bowdown2:

Perhaps try this:

St. Luke 11:33-36 "33 “No one who lights a lamp hides it away or places it (under a bushel basket), but on a lampstand so that those who enter might see the light. 34 The lamp of the body is your eye. When your eye is sound, then your whole body is filled with light, but when it is bad, then your body is in darkness. 35 Take care, then, that the light in you not become darkness. 36 If your whole body is full of light, and no part of it is in darkness, then it will be as full of light as a lamp illuminating you with its brightness.” This is not an option, it is a command by Jesus.

Rom 15:18 “18 For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to lead the Gentiles to obedience by word and deed,” Would Jesus send porn or foul jokes?

IMHO this is not Protestant thinking, this is anti-Christian thinking. Even Father Corapi once said, “Give me a good Protestant over a bad Catholic any time, at least I have something to work with” 😃

The meaning being, of course, you can call yourself any religion in the world but if you don’t follow it you are a non-believer. A pious Protestant probably has great opportunity to grow in their understanding of Jesus Christ’s complete revelation to us.
