Where can I get a 15 decade rosary?

Any ideas? I’ve found some super expensive ones on a google shopping search and one 20 decade one on E-bay.

I guess I could possibly make one myself by mixing a few rosary kits together, but I’m not sure where to find those either.

Any help would be appreciated!
 
They are hard to find.
Be sure to put in on Ebay Habit rosary, nun’s rosary, antique rosary and priests rosary, those searches often lead to 15 decade rosaries.

Also, if you look for handmade rosary on Ebay, just write them and ask if they can make you one at a reasonable cost.

I have no idea what your budget is, but expect since it’s 3 times larger (beads and such) that it will cost at least 3 times as much as a regular rosary.

I make rosaries, but don’t have the supplies to make a 15 decade one. 🙂

What do you consider to be “super expensive”? This one costs half as much as my five-decade rosary did, so to me it’s a bargain!

I have purchase from that site before, and the couple who run it are lovely people 🙂
 
If you’re looking for a ready-made rosary that won’t be too expensive try contacting a monastery/convent to find out where they get them. They’ll have found some inexpensive ones.

UU&A, thanks for the reply and link. The ones I found on Google Shopping were in the hundreds of dollars. I can handle $30 or so. 😉
 
You’re welcome, Ωpd. I recommend that source to anyone looking for good value for money. The customer service is top notch as well. The first rosary I ever bought from them got lost in transit and they sent me another at no cost to me—I paid neither for the replacement rosary nor for its (overseas) shipping! When I protested on the grounds that it wasn’t their fault the first one went AWOL, they simply said they hoped whoever ended up with it would use it to pray. 👍

The couple make all rosaries themselves by hand, and many are of their exclusive design. IIRC, they became disabled and were unable to work so started this business as a way of bringing income to their household as well as spreading their faith.

Since Pope John Paul II introduced the Luminous Mysteries, you’ll need a 20 decade rosary. I made one for a brother to replace his old 15 decade rosary. If you are going to use a 15 decade one to pray a modern rosary, you’ll go right round once and then one decade more. Or if you are going to use a 5 decade, you’ll go round 4 times instead of 3 times.

We are not forced to say the Luminous Mysteries if we don’t want to. John Paul II just recommended them.

You don’t have to pray it at all if you don’t want to, and you can make up your own if you want to, but the Church’s Rosary currently has 20 decades; not 15, any more. When a Pope “recommends” something, it’s kind of like when your boss “suggests” something - it’s a polite way of saying Do it.
 
Can’t you just say your regular rosary 4 times? A twenty-decade rosary seems like it would be hard to handle, not to mention how tangled up it could get.

Well Blessed John Paull II said the Luminous Mystery’s are only “optional” for the Rosary devotion.

Personally though, I love the Luminous mysteries. They are so mystical.

I don’t see why one needs to pray all four mysteries in one sitting though. I like the way they are divided into days of the week: (Joyful - Monday/Saturday, Luminous - Thursday, Sorrowful - Tuesday/Friday, Glorious - Wednesday/Sunday) That way you can concentrate on one set of mysteries, and really think about them. Otherwise it seems like you would be rushing through them. (That’s an awful lot of Hail Marys too.)

I have no idea why anyone would reject the recommendation of a Pope to meditate on the life and teachings of Christ in His adult years.

The reason I do is because it mess’s up the scheme of the Rosary, the Rosary was originally created as a substitute for saying the Psalter, (another name for the holy Rosary is Our Lady’s Psalter) and if you add the Luminous Mystery’s it mess’s that up. If you stick with the 15 traditional mysteys’ and if you only pray one-third of the Rosary daily, every three days you’ll have prayed a 150 Ave’s.

Now that most people are literate, anyone who wants to can pray the Psalter, and the Rosary can come into its own as the pre-eminent model of Christian meditation on the life and teachings of Christ. 🙂

Indeed so, but praying 150 Psalms a day could be very challenging xD besides, I’m not against the Luminous Mysteries per-say, I just like the traditional Rosary and besides, Our Lady revealed to us 15 mysteries, not 20, but to each his own
(as long as Holy Mother Church approves it!)
