Where can i get a free bible?

where can i get a free bible …I want to learn more about the catholic faith … a bible that is true to traditional catholic believes with catholic commentary not liberal… I am poor so please help

The Congregation for the Clergy offers an excellent tool for studying the Holy Scriptures, called, “Biblia Clerus,” (Priest Bible). It is free to download at clerus.org/bibliaclerus/index_eng.html.

It offers two copies of the Bible in English, as well as copies in Hebrew, Greek, and two copies in Latin, as well as several modern languages. It also has extensive cross-referencing to various ecclesial and hagiographic writings as well as copies in several languages of many other Magisterial documents.

I find it very useful. I hope you enjoy it.

For a free Bible:

If you look up a local chapter of The Gideons, they would probably give you a copy of the New King James Version. They always give out free bibles (at least the New Testament with Pslams and Proverbs). If you know someone who will be staying in a hotel, you could ask them to take the one from the room. The Gideons want you to take them.

If you visit a Salvation Army thrift store, they always give away the Bibles, they never charge for them.

There are numerous online websites to read the Bible:

www.biblegateway.com - Many different translations, including the Douay-Rehims version (which is the only Bible they have online that has the Duterocannon)

www.usccb.org/nab/bible - the New American Bible (includes Duterocannon)

www.sacredbible.org - Work of one person to translate the Latin Vulgate into English, includes Duterocannon

There are many more that can be found online, but those three websites are good starting points.
 
I also have some Catholic Bibles in Spanish, either way I would be happy send you one for free.

I would think that your local church would be a good place to start and The New Jerusalem Bible would be an excellent choice. There is an annotated version, with Catholic commentary, which will tell you everything you’re looking for.

I’ve just moved and can’t lay my hands on my copy, but I’m pretty certain that the NJB is approved by the Vatican.

Go to any St.Vincent DePaul thrift store and tell them your need. I am willing to bet they will give you a good Catholic Bible. I would recomment looking for a Douay-Confronternity version if at all possible! (Tell them that is what you are looking for) I have been freely given many bibles at these places, withou even asking!
 
I was going to offer to send you one too, however it looks like you have lots of good options here. Way to go guys 👍
 
One person above recommended a Gideon or Salvation Army Bible. Please note that those Bibles are not Catholic and are missing books, in addition to other problems. If you need a physical Bible, I’m sure your local Parish could help, or you could contact someone on here who has offered to give you one.

At the church I went to, there was a library. I don’t know how common it is to have one in a catholic church, but in chicago it seems a lot of parishes have something like a room with books one could call a library.
I checked out a bunch of books. There are a ton of bibles there to check out. I have access to a bunch of catholic bibles so I did not check any of those out, and they had a ton of them!
