Where can I get the 1962 Breviarium Romanum?

I have looked everywhere for one so I can start praying the hours. I would like one with Latin and English if possible. I know that Baronius Press has given no updates whatsoever about exactly when theirs might come out. Does anyone know where I can buy it?

The Baronius Press Breviary is the only Latin/English Breviary available (or soon to be available). The only other option is to try to get an old Breviary from the 1960’s on Ebay or a used bookseller.

There are other licit ways of praying the hours than the 1962 Brevarium Romanum.

One in fact that goes back some 1500 years (the Brevarium Romanum is based on the 1910 reforms of Pius X), the Benedictine Divine Office, or Monastic Liturgy of the Hours.

Not for the faint of heart though, if you do the whole things you recite 250+ psalms a week. (obviously, all 150 psalms with many repeats).

If you wanted to pray the Little Office of the BVM according to the old breviary, then I’d try this: Little Office BVM (Baronius Press)

Otherwise, I’d just wait for Baronius Press to start offering their long-awaited Breviary.

If you want the older Office in Latin only, then another consideration should be the Diurnale Romanum. It is a fraction of the cost and has everything except Matins. Unless you have a ton of time to pray, you won’t be able to get in Matins. So why spend a ton of money for the full office?

After trying many forms of the Office, pre- and post-concilliar, I ended up using the Diurnale the most.

And if it simply impossible to get one’s hands on a copy, or if cost is a major issue, the Franciscans of the Immaculate have just put out a wonderful new app for iPhone called Breviarium Meum (available on iTunes). It’s the entire 1962 breviary - you can set it up with just Latin text or Latin with English translation side-by-side, and you can either download texts a day at a time or a whole week’s worth. Best of all, it’s free, though you are certainly encouraged to make a donation to the good friars.

For reasons, I am unable to get the books right now, but I have this on my iPod and it is really handy.

I think iPod/iPhone apps are good for teaching or for interim measures, but I always encourage people to get an actual book because it is something tangible that stays with the person for years. An app on a phone is intangible, and people are not as attached to it. It isn’t MY breviary that has been with me through thick and thin. When I pick up my Breviary, it should connect me to all those times that I have prayed it before.

That’s my thoughts, anyway.

I don’t even own an iPhone or a smartphone of any kind, in fact, I don’t even have a cell phone (and I’m 23) I guess I am just old fashioned that way. I know it sounds weird but I love tangible books, the feel of the pages and I love that musty smell of a book lol.

I can Bones DVD find the series a recreation of Sherlock Holmes stories, but only with skill and modernized in our time, and the cult of science and human proximity to military action. The characters are interesting, Desperate Housewives DVD active relations and fluid, and talent of all players in this series first. I am not negative at all here. The stories of Sherlock Holmes in his day was the popularity of Harry Potter today, Cold Case DVD were a great success and fun for the hordes of people, and remain to this day for many of us. It takes talent to recreate that serious, and in this series, which came very close. This episode in particular is wonderful, because it shows the mutual attraction that all feel each other, work, and the need to do good and be good. Essentially this is how the character of the district attorney irrascible get everything back, Curb Your Enthusiasm DVD he told them the same way, “in progress in the game!” and all of them responded to the call as Watson. At the beginning of the fifth season of the popular legal series ‘Bones’ many viewers tuned trepidatiously after the end of the fourth season spectacular strange. Fortunately, The L Word DVD all fears were dispelled and relieved when the fifth season up a gear in the first episode, and maintain that pace throughout the season, ‘Bones’ fifth season is perhaps its biggest yet.

Same here! Baronius Press says that their Breviary will be available by the Feast of the Assumption.
