Sadly you are still clearly wrong even with your current attempt at spin.

In essence, you do not know what is “better” then what the Church actually directs. That’s simply not your call – you lack both the authority and the competence.

As long as you are saying that wearing amice with an alb that doesn’t require one is your personal preference then that’s fine – even if it doesn’t provide a function and even if it looks weird.

On the other hand it’s not OK if you’re trying to infer that your personal preferences are somehow better than what the Church actually directs.

Very bad form.
Spiller, your posts seem to lack charity brother, perhaps that is not your intent, but if that’s the case it should be something you should seriously try to work on.

Blegianwaffles9 is not saying he knows better than the Church, he is only saying that he thinks that the amice should (as in an ideal) be worn due to its symbolic reference, and this is not against the Church in any way as the Church does not say it is better NOT to wear it, only that it is an option not to wear it so long as everything is covered. This is much like the situation with head coverings for women, the Church no longer mandates women to do so, but that doesn’t mean that the Church thinks it’s better for women not to wear them, in fact it is laudable if women decide to wear them even though it is no longer required.

Does this make more sense now?

If someone phrased it like that, it would be a whole different story. They would be expressing a personal ideal and that’s fine. However to use language in a way that suggests an amice is required or that wearing one is intrinsically “better” then not wearing one is quite inflammatory – and ignorant.

Thank you for your posting.

I didn’t have a problem understanding what he was saying at all, (unless of course he replys later to say that my interpretation of what he said is wrong.) However when I read your responses to his posts it would seem that you are arguing somewhat of a strawman, and with language that is somewhat inflammatory.

Just a 3rd party’s perspective.
