I saw on ebay where someone was selling a 1st class relic, but then I read that Canon law forbids people to sell them, and I assumed I was forbidden to buy it then…

Is their an order or group that I can appeal to that I may receive a 1st class relic of my patron saint, St. John Vianney?

Thank you!

It is very unlikely that the 1st class relic offered on ebay is real. Pieces of saints’ bodies aren’t just floating around like that.

It is also very unlikely that you’ll be able to obtain a 1st class relic yourself, for your own possession. The Church generally keeps these under her care.

However, if someone has a suggestion on how to gain access to one, it is certainly not wrong to try to obtain one.

My priest has a 1st class relic of the saint you are looking for. He is very fond of it. Don’t seek relics Though instead focus on Christ

Did you see the relic for sale on ebay recently? A few years back, ebay instituted a policy that forbids the selling of, among other things, first class relics. The user who is attempting to sell the item should be reported to ebay so that they can terminate the auction (and the user’s account, if necessary).

It’s very difficult to get a relic of this Saint. Believe me, I have tried.

They get around this on Ebay by saying what they sell is the Thecla and the relic is sent free.
