Where do I learn about the Doctrines (beliefs) of the church?
Is there an official website for the church?
Where is the best place for a non catholic to learn about the teachings of the church?
Is the only way to ask a priest questions to see them in person?

I’ having a hard time finding information.

The “Catechism of the Catholic Church” is available for free online at the Vatican web site. Google it you will find it.
Or you can purchase a printed version from Amazon they have soft bound and hard bound editions.
Also useful is the “Compendium” search for it at Amazon.

Peace!

Get a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The paperback and Hardcover versions are so cheap that there really is no excuse for any Catholic not to have one.

Other books are the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (Q & A version of the Catechism), the Roman Catechism, and The Catholic Catechism and Modern Catholic Dictionary (both by Fr John Hardon SJ).

You could start with the simple summary here.

There are useful booklets, such as this booklet.

Of course, the Apsotles’ and Nicene creeds are excellent summaries of our Faith.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church could be seen as the official tome that contains Catholic doctrine but it is rather a weighty document if you’re initially looking for Catholic 101.

The Catechism is a great resource. It may be difficult to read straight through like a book.

How familiar are you with Christianity in general? And when you ask to learn about Catholic doctrines, what level of detail are you looking for. The Nicene Creed is a basic overview of Christian essentials.

I would recommend BOTH the Catechism of the Catholic Church (also known as the Catechism of St. John Paul II) & the Roman Catechism (aka the Catechism of the Council of Trent).

The reason I say both is because one didn’t replace the other & both were written for different reasons.

While they both overlap in many places, there are some places they differ:
  • their focus is different.
  • both touch on a few topics that the other doesn’t
Here is a website you can read the Catechism of the Council of Trent online:

God Bless
