Where do the JWs get their history from?

So a Jw came to my door about 20 minutes ago and as we wer talking I told her to read John 6 and she politely said she would but she started getting upset with me when I told her that they don’t have the fullness of the truth I did not even stae what religion I am. She said I have my truth and she has hers. I told her then we both cant be right, truth does not change, at this point she wanted to leave but I kept her attention very nicely and also told her that New Light is not truth because if it was then your doctrine would never change from time to time or when certain proclaimed truth didnt come forth. I also told her Jesus Christ is Lord at this point she said I am very convicted in what I believe and I said yes I am but it not just about that it is also about the fact that even history sees things for what they are and does not distort truth, people can have opinions and pass them off as truth but real truth is what it is. At the end she was so upset she was shaking and just started letting me know that the Nazi’s along with the Jews and Catholics persecuted all of the JW’s. I just laughed and said I didn’t know they had the time. She said to go to the library and do research that it was all there. :rolleyes: So like I said where do they get their history from?

I would have pointed out to her that the Nazis persecuted almost everyone.

Also, I would tell them that the Catholic Church is persecuted by the Watchtower - and all she had to do is check with the Falsetower.

Yes, Nazi’s did in fact kill others and lots of Catholics but focused mainly on the Jews. 😦 I still can’t believe that something like that has happened. It has to be Biblical.

The Jews weren’t the first victims of the Nazi reign of terror. It was their political opponents.

We should never forget the persecution of the Jews, but we must also remember there were others who were persecuted.

Of course, and we need to remember that Pope Pius saved many Jews from the atrocities there. He even hid them at his summer home.
One Jew who later converted to Catholicism, who then became a Catholic nun was the saddest story I ever heard. Edith Stein died at Auschwitz as a Catholic nun. Jewish from birth, died a Christian.

Oh trust me I did…but she became agitated and wanted to leave FAST but I kept her longer when I told her that.
I just wonder when they are going to send me a stronger JW theologian, they always do when they dont get their way with me :rolleyes:.
I was just wondering because of course they seem so sure and she kept telling me that it was all my perception. sigh…

Many Saints came of this horrible inhumanity.

of course, there are many jews who think that if the pope had said things publicly (especially in italy at the time of the deportation of the jews) things might have been avoided.

it’s interesting you bring up edith stein. did you know she wrote a letter to the pope 9 years before she died in auschwitz?? the pope never responded to her. she told him of what she thought was going to happen to the jews under nazi rule. she proved to be right and died thinking she had been abandoned by the pope (not the office, the man) as evidenced in journal entries.

i would encourage everyone here to watch “Constantine’s Sword”. there is a bias to it, but it gives great insight into the history of persecution by Christians.

lastly, the nazis did kill lots of people from lots of different backgrounds. however, they specifically targeted (in this order) jews, jehovah’s witnesses, homosexuals, gypsies, and anyone else against them (insert Christians in here although they were not specifically targeted).

Where do you get your stats from? Does it really matter in what order that they were killed in? Last I read Germans themselves were also killed by the Nazi regime, first, because they were not Arian (looking) enough or they were lacking physically or mentally in what was deemed superior. Catholics did pose a threat because of their beliefs.

But for a JW to say that catholics were incahoots with the Nazis to try and prove a point on their behalf is ridiculous and pathetic. I just would like to know from what source other than the watchtower do they get these stories from?

Jw’s are wrong.
Jw’s were persecuted by nazis…and those that bravely faced the nazis are heros, regardless of if they were jew,jw,or the soldiers that finaly stoped that madness.

However the nazis do not make you the true Church…Jesus christ dose. Jw’s have a very shakey history, there history will not impress anyone. THAT is why
jw’s try to use anything to help there reputation (nazi persecution for example).

However persecution dose not make you the true church, God dose…and I have never seen any record of God contacting the Jw’s and telling them they were the true church…And I have not read the scripture that says the whole church would fall, it actualy says the opposite.
And of course know bible scripture even so much as mentioned watchtower or C.T. russel.

If you say you are the true church, and you don’t have God himself…or a Verse in the bible…or AT LEAST history to back you up…your false period.

most any history book written on the subject of nazi persecution will tell you that, after the jews, nazis went after jw’s the most of any other racial or religious group. hitler hated them because it is fundamental to their faith to oppose governments (very simplistically put on my part). catholics posed very little threat actually because of the agreement the pope had signed with hitler (of course he did that before he became pope but still as a vatican representative). there were many priests and nuns who posed a threat and they were dealt with. edith stein was jewish (according to ancestry… in fact, hitler said that if anyone in your family was jewish going back to 1800, you were jewish) and that is why she was persecuted.

they get the whole “catholics in cahoots with hitler” from the idea that the pope was in league with him since the vatican was the first (even before russia) state to sign a treaty with hitler. the pope did make some mistakes during the war also, through his silence. much of it can be found in the documentary and book “Hitler’s Pope”. i do NOT ascribe to the ideas put forth in the book, but it reflects much of that view. also, give James Carrol’s “Constantine’s Sword” a look.
