Greetings all! I’ve wondered something for a while now. So, we have two judgments; one immediately upon death (particular judgment) and another at Christ’s return (last judgment).

Where do we go “between judgments”? I mean, if we get are own, individual judgment immediately upon death, are we judged again?

OR… am I misunderstanding this and the final judgment are for the folks physically alive when Christ returns?

Help!

From Radio Replies, Vol 1:
1018. If we are judged individually at death, why are we all to be judged again at the last day? God must already know.
God does not judge in order to discern guilt. At the particular judgment, which takes place as individuals die, God apportions to each soul relative remuneration or retribution. But at the end of the world, all souls will be re-united to their bodies, the souls of the just not losing their happiness, the souls of the lost not escaping their misery. The general judgment will then take place for the general manifestation of God’s justice. All men will then acknowledge His attributes, even those who have denied them during this earthly life. But those who availed themselves of God’s mercy will have nothing to fear on that day.

David,

Thank you for the response! I think that response you quoted only reaffirms what I already know. Which is: Okay, so we die, we get our particular judgment; of which we get our remuneration or our retribution. I take that to mean we go to Heaven or Hell immediately. Then, at the final judgement God and His justice will make Himself known and our souls will be reunited with our (presumed glorious?) bodies.

So again, where are we in between??:confused::confused: Surely that cannot mean that once we go to where we deserve, we get pulled out of it to have God break Himself down to us?

What am I missing?

I believe God has a special Heaven for all those awaiting their bodies to be returned to them in the glorified state. Purgatory is always a temporal state whether you are in it in this life or continue to do so in the next life. Judgment actually only occurs at death. There is no second judgment. The Second Coming will come to you in two ways. Once at your death in a personal way and finally at the end of the world in a general way. Once you die now then God places you either still in Purgatory temporary or in Heaven. If you read the approved messages of St. Maria Faustina in her Diary you will definitely get a better glimpse of heaven, hell and purgatory for she had visited all three places and recorded them in her Diary.

From my understanding, those who die are judged by themselves, and based on the judgement, go to either hell or heaven (maybe taking a detour through purgatory first). Then, at the second coming, all souls are reunited with their bodies, but this doesn’t mean that they are taken from where they are. It doesn’t say that the souls return to their bodies, it reads more as though their bodies return to their souls.

I think that is where you are getting confused. It seems as though you are assuming that our souls will rejoin our bodies on earth. But I’ve seen nothing to indicate that.

Hmmm… so when we get our glorified bodies, you think maybe we simply gain them at our eternal destination??
