In my case, country of birth, country of nationality and country of residence are three different places. So I don’t know how to answer your question. 🤔
I can see why you have so many hot air balloons.

Technically, I could come close to matching you . But I consider myself basically an American, I suppose. God save the Queen! …wait, do they still say that?

(You can just put where you live now, I suppose. Unless it’s U.S. (which is boring) In that case, put something else. 😃 )

I am curious if people from N. Ireland and Scotland prefer not to say they are from U.K.?

I’ve worked with several. They would tolerate being called British but not much else besides Scottish/Irish.

Okay, but your question was not “What do you consider yourself to be?” 😉

The thread title asks, “Where do you live?” Your original post asks, “What country are you from?” In my case, those two questions have different answers. So which question are you more interested in knowing the answer to?

Hmmm… I suppose I meant “from” in the sense of where you are currently living. But an Englishman in New York is still just that, isn’t he. 👨‍🔬

I think mainly just where you are living now, but in your case “Up…”, you are under the strictest obligation to put anything other than Unites States. We have far too many of those already. You have been deemed a “special case.”

🤣 You’re in luck, then, as I don’t live in the US and haven’t for more than a decade and a half.

OTOH, if I did, would you prefer that I lied about it 😟 or simply didn’t answer? 😒

Hypothetically, if you were living in the United States, You would have to tell me something else. I would leave that to your discretion as you do seem like a rather upstanding human being to me, as far as I can tell.

But by all means, you must give some answer. We need to get to 100 here and you have the grand opportunity to be s part of that.

So if you don’t mind my asking…where do you live now? I’m going to go with some Asian country but my probability for being correct is rather low.

It is but they keep seeking devolution so wishful thinking at work here!

Yes. We still accept them as British though! Very definitely so. Many eg Yorkshire folk are just as ornery and particular too. Becomes second nature to mentally add UK when they tell you

I’m not sure there are any native antarticans. I must go check.

Unless you’re basically saying:

Hmmm…why I am reminded of St. Dominic now?

Somewhere in the southern United States. My ethnic background is full blooded mutt.
