Where do you suppose heaven is located?

After seeing movies about Jesus’ life during Christmas , on tv.,the question came to me.Jesus is portrayed raising his eyes up when talking to the Father.Yet,with all the trips into space and the skies above there is no sign of a Heaven there. I tend to think it would be located in other dimension. What does the Catholic Church teach about that?

I don’t have a citation for this but I’m pretty sure that Heaven is quite literally out of this world… as in, it’s impossible for us to just physically travel there, even with the best science fiction spaceship. Outside of our finite time and space.

Well i was hoping to catch the next bus to heaven… but since that isn’t going to happen… I will be happy to live my life by Gods words! [BIBLEDRB][/BIBLEDRB]👍

" Heaven. This word has several meanings: 1 the firmament in which the stars are perceived (Gn 1, 14-17); 2. the region of the atmosphere where the birds fly (Dt 4, 17) 3.The place of God’s residence, the throne-room where the Everlasting One is seated surrounded by the angels (Mt. 5, 12: 24,36). Jewish tradition had imagined several heavens or firmaments superimposed on one another, populated with various kinds of angels. It is in this sense that they spoke of the “heavenly host” and that St. Paul spoke of having been caught up in ecstasy “to the third heaven” (2 Cor 12, 2)"
A verbatim transcription from the Bible Dictionary found the back of a NAB.
Whenever I have thought about heaven, I always migrate to 1 Cor 2, 9 “Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love Him”.
It brings me to “how” instead of “where”.

Everyone knows heaven is Texas!

Both heaven and hell are in the heart.

The heart itself is but a small vessel, yet dragons are there, and there are also lions; there are poisonous beasts and all the treasures of evil. But there too is God, the angels, the life and the kingdom, the light and the apostles, the heavenly cities and the treasuries of grace—all things are there.
St. Macarius

I believe heaven is on earth, and the only way to see that you’re already in it is the day when one is ‘enlightened’. As mere mortals, we remained blinded to heaven’s presence.🙂

Heaven is located BEYOND the fourth dimension. Mostlikely in the fifth dimension.

This is most likely true. We know a few things:
most people go through a tunnel to get there, after death.
Heaven is more real, more concrete than earth, so it has an actual locality, but we can’t get there by physical travel.
We are surrounded by the citizens of heaven right now,
the saints and angels are all around us, though usually we can’t see them.

As Jesus said, you don’t even understand the things of earth when I tell you, how could you understand the things of heaven?
I think of it as if we were unborn infants: the fetus doesn’t know what life will be like outside the womb. If he were capable, he would fight to stay in the womb. But he will die if he does, as he’s meant to be born and grow into an adult human being.
We fight to stay in this life, having little idea of what the next life holds. But we are meant to pass to the next life and grow into our full potential as human beings in Christ.
Death is the one adventure that no one can avoid.

We live in a three dimensional world (height, width & depth) passing through the fourth dimension of time …

… heaven & hell mostlikely exists on the fifth dimention or beyond.

So there’s two different heavens, yeah? One right now, where the souls go (not meant for bodies), the only bodies in heaven are Mary’s and Jesus’s.

And then the new Heaven that God will create at the end of time.

Doesn’t He create a ‘new Earth’ and how does that relate to the new heaven, suitable for body and souls? Is that going to be the place for heaven?

It is here and now. It is a state of consciousness. When we quit the body, we can perceive it, according to our spiritual state. The Seraphim are in the immedate Presence, sinners are in Hell, good men and women somewhere in between. We get as much Light as we can take. Sick people like the curtains drawn, healthy people like to go out in the sunshine.

I think of it as a matter of frequencies, like tuning into a radio station. Holy people can see angels, saints, Jesus and Mary. Ordinary sinners may see a ghost, spending its time in Purgatory on earth, occasionally. People focussed exclusively on the material world see nothing. Dying people may see deceased loved ones.

I read a story about a Bishop who, when he first went into his cathedral, was surprised at the number of angels in there. “In time”, he said, “I learned to ignore them”.

One of you thinks that we are surrounded by the citizens of heaven right now.
If that were the case they may hear and see what we do and say. That is an unsettling thought.Say it is a deceased family member in heaven. What if we say something true but unflattering about them. How about a deceased parent watching us make mistakes.
How do you like the idea of people watching you even when you are alone.?
No privacy.Even your thoughts may be up there. One more reason to be always as perfect and just as you can.
Going back to Heaven.I get a hint of it at communion time.It is the highest moment of my day and I wish I stayed there.

On the note of privacy, perhaps the best way to get rid of the unease is to have a good practice of doing only things that you will not fear to be found out, after all God knows our every move…no privacy either, with Him. and then, even so, they wouldn’t spill your secrets to those still living, those you can see. You can’t see those that are already gone, so what difference does it make if they ‘knew’ what you’re up to, when its time to meet those already ‘up there’ ~ maybe you’re find out how that works. maybe its not going to injure your privacy. Trust God that he knows whats best for you…if he thinks you needed that privacy truly, maybe the deceased parent won’t get to see it. If he allowed that, then perhaps its for your interest too.😃

The Latin version of the prayer our Lord Jesus gave us says the Father is in “celo”, cielo, “sky”.So we should not look for other places.Do you agree? Jesus could have used the word Paradise,or other descriptive word for a hidden place, but he said “celo”.
If I have a chance I will ask the priest at my Church about his opinion on this subject.
Also when people think of Hell they tend to place it down,in the depths of the earth.
I wonder why.

On the one hand, both Jesus and Mary are in heaven with their resurrected bodies, which would make one think heaven is a “place” in which material bodies reside. But on the other hand, their bodies are glorified, which seems to make them outside the dimensions of space and time. So heaven seems to be a place that is outside of our understanding, able to contain material bodies, yet glorified and outside of time and space.
