Where does annointing oil come from?

So what is the oil that’s used for Confirmation and Extreme Unction? Where does it come from?
 
From the Chrism Mass of the diocese, usually celebrated during Holy Week. If you mean what is it before it is sacred, olive oil (and balsam for Chrism).

As a whole, oil was used as a cleanser, much like what we use as soap. In fact, soap IS made up of oils.

So the symbolize of using oils is to cleanse us…in a spiritual way as well.

Most typically, but canon 847, par. 1 allows oil pressed from other plants as does the Roman pontifical which preceeded it in expressing this change (ROils 3-4). This is a concession to those places where olive oil is unobtainable or difficult to obtain. Frankly though I don’t know where those places would be, but the law does provide for a substitute.
