Where does the bible say the the Ark of Covenant is?

Some one showed me this and it makes sense to me - why would God leave it on the earth?

It was taken from the people of Israel by God and he makes them forget

Jeremiah 3:16
In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land," declares the LORD, "men will no longer say, ‘The ark of the covenant of the LORD.’ It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made.

It shows up in later in the bible in Gods temple

Revelations 11:19
Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm.

Does it make any sense ? - people are still searching for it today or claim to have it.

Nobody knows where it is.
 
I don’t think God left any proff of his life on Earth, He said we are suppose to have Faith.
They are wasting their time looking for it, and if someone says they found it I won’t believe them.
 
According to scripture the Ark was hidden in a cave by Jeremiah. Then 2 Baruch(an apocryphal text) says that it was taken up into Heaven. (which makes sense from the Revelation view that the Ark is in Heaven.

I think a more important thing to notice is that John looks up into Heaven and sees the Ark of the Covenant. Then immediately begins to describe a vision of the Virgin Mary. Notice that in the original text there would have been no chapter break from 11-12. So it would read like:
And the temple of God was opened in heaven: and the ark of his testament was seen in his temple, and there were lightnings, and voices, and an earthquake, and great hail. And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars: And being with child, she cried travailing in birth, and was in pain to be delivered.

Every year or so the History Channel seems to run a program allegedly tracing the Ark to some place in Ethiopia - Axum I think. A small chapel where no one is allowed in. Who knows?
 
The Ark of the Covenant and the Temple it was kept in were only shadows, copies of the real thing.

They worship in a copy and shadow of the heavenly sanctuary, as Moses was warned when he was about to erect the tabernacle. For he says, “See that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” (Hebrews 8:5)

The temple on earth was a copy of God’s temple in heaven, and we see the real Ark of the Covenant in that temple in heaven in Revelation. Remember that there were not chapter or verse divisions in the Bible when Revelation was written.

Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm. A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman* clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.a 2She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. (Revelation 11:19,12:1-2)

This passage, which spans Chapters 11 and 12, would have been one undivided narrative. And that narrative goes on to tell us that the woman gives birth to a male child rules the nations with a rod of iron and is caught up to God. The child is clearly Jesus and so the woman is clearly Mary. And Mary is the Ark of the Covenant.

Actually it is more correct to say that the Ark of the Covenant represents mary, forshadows Mary, and
 
BMullins is exactly correct. Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant, and she is in Heaven with a crown on her head.

The Ark of the Old Covenant which was kept in the Holy of Holies in the Temple in Jerusalem was only a copy of the real thing.

Just like the Temple itself, the sacrificial offerings of bulls and goats, the Law of Moses, ritual washings, passover lambs… these are shadows of the real things and St. Paul even tells us how they were passing out of existence to make way for the realities which they represent when he says, “For the world in its present form is passing away.” (cf 1 Corinthians 7:31)

Even if we do find a wooden box covered with gold which used to hold the tablets, it will have little meaning for me personally outside of the historical significance. Jews will look to the building of the third temple but I know that the realities which are represented by the Ark and the Temple are in heaven, and that is where I look toward.

According to Scripture the Ark of the Covenant was lost. As others have mentioned, Mary is seen as being the new Ark of the Covenant.

Interestingly the Ethiopian (Ge’ez) Orthodox Church claims to possess the original Ark of the Covenant. I don’t think they permit people to view it though. It’s considered too sacred.
 
Interesting responses - the person who told me this would never consider Mary as being the Ark of Covenant - Mary is just a normal everyday sinner to them - pentecostal ( I don’t know if that is a common belief by them) - so I can see why they interpreted it this way - thanks for the responses.

The Virgin Mary (“Is”) the New Ark of the Covenant.

The first Ark of the Covenant contained the hand written tablets of Gods Ten Commandments.

The Virgin Mary was created in ineffable Godlike perfection unlike any human God has or will ever create in the history of humanity.

It was Mary a Holy Vessel who carried within her holy womb the very author of the Ten Commandments…God Himself (Jesus) in the Mystery of the Holy Trinity.
She is referred to the New Ark of the Covenant. In a manner of speaking the Old Ark became obsolete and replaced by Jesus the Son of Almighty God inside the New Ark of Mary His Immaculate Mother.

Nothing imperfect or blemished by sin could behold within itself Almighty God (Jesus)
God in turn created a perfect vessel. We know her as Mary the Immaculate Virgin.
 
It appears that Jeremiah hid the Ark in a cave and declared it was to remain there until God decided otherwise.

This is supported by Jeremiah 3:16
16 And when you have multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says the LORD, they shall no more say, “The ark of the covenant of the LORD.” It shall not come to mind, or be remembered, or missed; it shall not be made again.

in which he says it is no longer important.

There seems no indication that it was not just left buried and forgotten.

Remember, in the original Scriptural texts, there were no chapter/verse division. Read the last verse of Revelation 11 into 12, and see what you get:Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and* the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple; and there were flashes of lightning, voices, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail. And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun**, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; she was with child and she cried out in her pangs of birth, in anguish for delivery. And another portent appeared in heaven; behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems upon his heads. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; she brought forth a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne.*It’s no accident that John juxtaposes his vision of the ark side-by-side his vision of Mary. :o
 
Remember that the chapter break is a later addition and not part of the original scripture. It is probably badly placed in this instance.

Sad to think that some believe God was more interested in creating and protecting a box suitable for tablets of laws than he was in the Mother of His only begotten Son…
 
The Ark was a RADIO.

But now he has modernized and gone satellite-no more transmission towers on Sinai!

It wasn’t the Ark itself and the material Tablets inside that was important. It was the Laws they contained in God’s written hand to be followed and taken to heart by all People of God.

From the (“New Ark of the Covenant”) came Jesus the Son of Almighty God

The laws written by God,s Hand were smashed at the foot of the mountain.
19 And as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned hot, and he threw the tables out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain.

Exodus 32:19

The law in the Ark were the second set.
1 The LORD said to Moses, "Cut two tables of stone like the first; and I will write upon the tables the words that were on the first tables, which you broke. … 27 And the LORD said to Moses, “Write these words; in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. *

Exodus 34:1-28 While God says in verse one that He will write them, in verse 28 He dictates them and has Moses do the actual writing.

Some authorities believe that both sets were encased within the Ark, mind you.
