Where Have All The Apostates And Anti-Mormons Gone?

Is an apostate a former mormon, or just anyone who is not a mormon?
How do you define an anti-mormon? Anyone who is not, or just mean types that say things that are untrue about your religion?

Do Mormons think lifelong Catholics are apostates?

(If so, proud apostate here.)

Or just those who used to be Mormon and are no longer?

(If so, not an apostate…never Mormon.)

The standard definition of apostate is one who used to have Christian belief and doesn’t any more. I’m not sure by that definition a Mormon could be an apostate. I’m not convinced Mormonism is Christian. Or Jehovahs Witnesses for that matter.

Add SDA’s to your list that are not convincingly christian.

I don’t think Z will answer because I read a hostile anti catholic mormon call the entire catholic church and all her members apostate to christianity.😦

I think that most of us on this board who didn’t have a clue about Mormonism have had our curiosity satisfied.

You, zerinus, have shown us that we need not be presumpuous about the so-called ignorance of LDS.

You have held your own very well.
 
This section has been kinda dead as far as Mormonism threads go lately. So maybe Zerinus decided to claim that he beat the anti-mormons and non-mormons and that they went away. However I’ve noticed that Zerinus often gets beat at his own arguments and then stops posting in those threads. I guess eventually the Mormonism threads got replaced by newer topics and Zerinus decided to falsely tell everyone that hes won.
 
Interesting article on apostasy. There is mention of repetition of baptism counting as apostasy. That’s interesting; there’s a lot of people who’ve had themselves rebaptized that probably didn’t know that. :eek:

The apostasy I was referring to was “when a Christian gives up his faith.” I guess you have to start out Christian in order to apostatize. So a Mormon can’t apostatize. 😉

A former Mormon—and not just a former Mormon. I define it more narrowly than that. A former Mormon who has chosen to actively oppose it and fight against it.

Sorry to be so quick to think you were stalling Zerenius. I guess you are not anything like that other mormon who said what he did on a protestant forum about catholics!🙂

Well, I would say you are right to dislike anyone falsely accusing your faith of things that are not true. I mean, Jack Chick does it, and Catholics are right to be upset by it.

Thank you for answering, I am confused about one thing, are you correct or is that other guy? I mean, do official mormon teachings consider all Catholics and the Catholic Church apostates- or was that guy just talking from his own personal view?

I don’t disagree with you for being upset with anyone who does not portray your faith accurately though.

Its just not right.
