Beautiful Question.

I think the times in my life that I have been touched the most by God is when I have no real reason for being emotional and I hear in the interior of myself a certain knowledge that I can’t explain. I am given somthing that I could not know or understand on my own.

I experience these things when I least expect them and I can be any where even awaken from a sound sleep. Mostly just after recieving comunion.

Does the plan of salvation means that Muslims, Hindus & Wiccans have no need to become catholics since get to be close to God through their own religions anyway?
No, because it is preferable and desirable to God that all people come to know Him in the Fullness of Truth (i.e., Catholicism).

i do consider that idea. but that its not really religion that triggers the experience, but our personal cravings. any tool can be used to trigger the god-experience, be it religion, music or meditation.
that may be true. (In fact I believe it is true, since I believe God is everywhere and in everything). The tool of religion and Judaism in particular, for me, ensures that I have the opporutnity throughout the day to pause and attempt to connect with the Divine. That’s why Jew’s bless just about everything you can think of (we are supposed to go through 100 blessings a day, at a minimum). It is a way of seperating the sacred from the profane throughout the day. Paradoxically, acknowleding that ultimately there is no distinction between the sacred and profane.

I’ve had these experiences in a variety of places and situations. At church, in the car, or simply sitting and contemplating God and His gifts. I have experienced what some people refer to as “sonshine”, a sensation that can only be described as deliciously warm sunlight shining on you from the direction of a crucifix. One of my most intense experiences was in my car. Luckily I was stopped in really bad traffic and not cruising along at freeway speeds, otherwise I probably would have lost control of the car. It was so overwhelming (in a good way) that for a brief time I was completely unaware of my surroundings. And remarkably, that was shortly before I converted. And I often feel touched by the Holy Spirit when I’m just relaxing in contemplative prayer. It’s like a little chill or shiver, a little electric current that runs through you and makes you smile. The same thing happens to me when I hear a particularly beautiful piece of music, which isn’t surprising since music is definitely a gift from the Holy Spirit.

By the way,
“I took your mother, but I give you mine”
…this is so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. I am at a loss for words.

Praying the rosary.

Doing adoration.

Reading the bible.

When i feel sad, and alone, i feel him come to me.

But the closest is when i came back to my faith, i feel so much closer to God now than ever.

:heaven:

At times when I’m about to receive the Eucharist. I have never in my life felt God so close to me. Sometimes it will bring me to tears…

You see I’m a convert and have not had his presence with me all of my life. I hold this so dear to my heart… and never ever want our Lord to leave my side… I pray everyone feels his presence, if they did they would never leave his side either…

God bless you all…

6:30 am, sitting on a park bench outside the hospital watching the sunrise on a chilly morning, while my wife and my newborn daughter were sleeping off her 3am entry into this beautiful world…

yeah, that was what heaven and being in God’s proximity will be. that moment.
