Where in scripture is the Intercession of saints?

Where in scripture can I find the reference or defense for Catholics praying with the saints; specifically the question was asked to me, “where in scripture does it prove that the saints can hear our prayers in order to petition on our behalf?” Without mentioning Maccabees or Rev 5:8.
