I often have protestant friends ask me where “so and so” is in the Bible, since they know that many Catholic beliefs are not explicitly stated in it. What are some Protestant beliefs that equally are not in the bible?

If you really want to get them going, you can say truthfully that Sola Scriptura and other Protestant doctrines are traditions of men, WHICH JESUS TAUGHT AGAINST! Ours is apostolic tradition, which Paul told us to keep.

And where did we go?
The council of Rome 382 AD where Pope Damascus decreed a 73 book canon

No some Protestants will say either

1. the Holy Spirit/God told us
   but whom did he tell?
   and others who have a larger or smaller canon claim God too
2. It feels right reading it, you can just tell
   but reading the prophecy of Christ’s passion in Wisdom and then reading Matthew’s account makes Wisdom sound right to us Catholics

+I hope and pray your purpose for gaining the knowledge you are seeking is not to play an argumentative . . . “one-upsmanship game” . . . with protestant children of our Wonderful Heavenly Father and His Blessed Christ . . . Jesus . . . our’s and their Lord . . .

Charitably sharing wonderful truths from the abundant wealth of riches of our Holy Catholic Christian Faith’s perspective is one thing . . . however . . . one of the more insidious temptations the enemy of souls . . . dangles temptingly . . . before the souls of human kind . . . is the temptation to allow ones heart and mind to grow more and more focused. . . against . . . something in the world which one perceives as a negative . . . rather than focusing on our **Wonderful God **and the . . . **positive infinite treasures and riches of the Kingdom of God **. . . and the sharing of those same riches and treasures with others with love, interest and joy . . . Giving in to the temptation to set about seeking the negative is tantamount to playing with a type of worldly fire that will only leave ashes within the heart of the soul . . . and will only hinder the formation of a soul into the . . . **Holy Image of Christ ** . . . if they are trying to follow our Lord’s call to become **holy children of God **. . . and if the negative focus continues . . . it will actually deform the soul . . . always drawing it further and further away from being . . . centered . . . on . . . Thank you for your responce. What are those verses of Jesus teaching against traditions of men and Paul telling us to hold onto apostolic tradition?

Jesus condemns traditions of men in Mark 7:13 - “You nullify the commandments of God by your traditions.”

St. Paul tells us to hold on to Apostolic tradition in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 - “Hold fast to the traditions which we taught you, whether by word of mouth or by a letter from us.”
