If you’re just looking for a prooftext, turn to 1 Corinthians.

I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. (1 Corinthians 7:8-9)
Hi QNDNNDQNDE (the hardest name in the world to pronounce). 1 Corinthians 7:8-9 ends with the words “for it is better to marry than to be aflame (burn) with passion.”

Can you expand on how you view this?

The verse ends with only one word, “πυροῦσθαι,” which is rendered in some translations as “burn with passion.” The primary meaning is just “to burn.” This is how it is rendered in the King James, which I was quoting from, and the Douay-Rheims. However, “burn with passion” is the most likely sense as opposed to “burn in hell.” The meaning of that is quite clear. That it is sinful is evident from the context. The principle behind this statement is given in v. 2: “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.”

Thanks for the expansion. I was using the RSV.
